Nest Hub Will Not Play Music Casted to It

I cannot cast audio from my Samsung Z Fold 4 to my Google Nest Hub. I've checked both are on the same wifi and the phone shows the hub in the list of devices to cast to. But the hub will not play the audio. The phone says it is casting the audio to the hub but the hub is not playing it. I've checked all setting on the phone and the hub but still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

reboot both the phone and the hub, make sure the hubs volume is up, and try again.  What type of music are you playing? Youtube music, etc?

Hi, rebooted and reset the hub many times but still no go. I'm trying to cast Spotify to the hub. If I click on the casting icon in Spotify on my phone it says that it is casting to the hub but the hub itself is not playing anything from Spotify.

Hi DVERTED,

Thank you for posting in the community! I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Hub isn’t casting audio on Spotify through your Samsung Z Fold 4. I'd be happy to help!

I also appreciate chiming in, @Ashepherdson.

To better assist you, @DVERTED, I’d like to ask the following:

  • What is the generation of your Nest Hub device (1st or 2nd gen)?
  • Do you experience the same inconvenience with other music providers or just Spotify?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps:

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Its a 2nd generation Nest Hub. Fuchsia Version: 20.20240530.3.236  Software Version: 60.80.0.638186164  Cast Firmware Version: 3.74.419799

I can't cast any music from any app on my phone to the hub. My phone says it is playing on the hub but the hub doesn't play it.

BUT - Now I have factory reset the hub and can't get past the setup. I get right through the setup process and it connects to the same network of my phone. Then I get the popup window on my phone saying "Your Nest Hub was setup successfully but can't be found. Make sure that your mobile device and Nest Hub are on the same WiFi network." They ARE on the same network!! It then talks about AP isolation but that option isn't available in the Google Router setup options. I've reset both the network and the hub more than 20 times now but I keep getting stuck at this step and it won't move forward. I've tried to add the hub manually but it doesn't show any code on the hub. My network is on a Google Nest Router and every other device works fine.

Help!!??

Hi @DVERTED,

Thank you for your reply with the detailed information. I'm sorry to hear that after you tried the troubleshooting steps, the concern persists. Let me help you with this.

In this case, following the AP isolation, my suggestion is to get in contact with your Internet service provider for more details if you want to disable this option.

In the meantime, please try the following process:

  • At the back of the device, press and hold (long press) both volume buttons for about 10 seconds.
  • To signal the start of the factory reset process, Google Assistant plays a sound.
  • Delete and reinstall the Google Home app.
  • Try to set up the device one more time.

Keep me updated.

Best regards,

Lusvin.

Hi, I got the Hub to reconnect. I have an autostart VPN on my phone that I had forgot about and when I turned it off the Hub connected. I think the VPN was causing the Hub not be be found. I'll followup this with the VPN owner. The VPN problem is not something that came up in any posts or searches on my issue. Maybe put this at the top of the check list for this issue in your community. Thanks
