Hi everyone,
I’m using a Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) with Google Photos. The issue is that some albums only show a few photos (for example, 2 out of 24), and some albums don’t show any photos at all. I’ve already restarted and factory reset the Hub to try and fix it, but that didn’t help.
Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Enrico,
Thank you for posting at the Community! I understand that the issue you experience is that some photos of your albums, or complete albums, are not shown on the Nest Hub (2nd gen.).
I appreciate you taking the time to perform some workarounds to resolve this situation. Consider that the issue stems from Google Photos' curation settings.
To display all photos, it is necessary to confirm if the Photo Frame is properly set up in the Google Home app or in your Nest Hub. For guided steps, you can check out this article: Photo Frame on your Google Nest display.
Additionally, consider turning on or off the "Personal photo curation" features. Consider that, depending on the album, Google Photos may curate the photos that it selects for your slideshow.
I hope the above steps provide a solution; feel free to add any update or feedback.
Regards,
Humberto.

I'm having the same issue. I have several dozen photo albums in Google Photos, but when selecting albums from "See photos on display" omits several of these from the list. Ideally, I'd like Photo Frame to randomly select photos from my entire population of Google Photos (not just from selected albums). Is the work around here to put all photos into one album?

Hi dsage604,
Thank you for posting in the community! I’m glad to address your concern about the Photo Frame on your Google Nest display omitting some photos from your device albums.
If your report was appropriately understood and we're on the same page, then the workaround that you propose is good, although it involves time and effort. I see that the direct solution is to include as selected all the albums on your device.
From the article Photo Frame on your Google Nest display (quoted in my initial interaction), notice the steps in the highlighted paragraph provided to adjust the settings.
I think the above steps will work; feel free to post any clarifications or further questions.
Regards,
Humberto

Thanks for the reply and the link. I have indeed followed all the steps in the document. Alas, what I'm describing is remains: within Google Photos, I have 50 discreet albums without much overlap across albums. The tend to be chronologically demarcated. In Photo Frame album selection, only about 40 of these albums appear from the selection list, whether I'm doing selection direct ly on the Hub device or via the iOS app. In short, Photo Frame does not allow me to select 100% of my photo albums as they appear in Google Photos.

Hi dsage604,
Thank you for taking the time to further investigate on your side the reason for the Photo Frame on your Google Nest display not allowing you to select 100% of your photo albums as they appear in Google Photos.
From the research on our side and the help article Create and edit photo albums I read that there's a limit to the number of photos to be displayed; you can add up to 20,000 photos or videos to an album.
The above leads to the questions:
How many photos do you want to be displayed?
The photos to be shown are marked as favorites?
Marking the photos as favorites and that they are less than 20,000 are the conditions to show them.
Keep me posted. Your answers are important in order to understand the reasons for the issue.
Regards,
Humberto

I have about 75 albums, each ranging from a few dozen to no more than 500 photos. That is, no single album is even close to 20k. I have several hundred photos marked as Favorites that indeed show up in slide show when I select Favorites as one of the subsets to display. My understanding, and evidenced in the Photo Frame, that marking a photo as Favorite is not necessary to have it display.

dsage604,
Thank you for the additional information that you provided. I understand that you'd like to be able to select pictures from more than 40 albums. Your thoughts are valuable to Google, as we're always working to improve the Nest experience. Share your thoughts directly with our development team and fill out this form.
I hope this helps; to assist you is my pleasure.
