Nest Mini Gen 2 Bluetooth Connectivity Issues with iPhone

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased the Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) last week, and I’m having persistent issues with Bluetooth connectivity. When I connect it to my iPhone, the Bluetooth connection drops multiple times within a minute, making it very frustrating to use.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

• Performed a hard reset of the Nest Mini.

• Changed its location to ensure it’s away from other electrical appliances.

• The device is updated to the latest firmware.

What I’m trying now is keeping the Google Home app open in the background on my iPhone, and with that, I was able to maintain the connection for more than 6 minutes. I’ll keep you updated on whether this continues to work.

If anyone has any solutions or suggestions, please share. Thank you!

Hi Agapios,

Thank you for reaching out to our community.

I'm sorry to hear that your new Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) is unable to stay linked to your iPhone via Bluetooth communication. I understand how frustrating it is when the Bluetooth connection drops numerous times in a minute, and even after doing a hard reset of the Google Nest Mini, changing its location to separate it from electrical appliances, and checking to see whether your device is updated, the inconvenience persists. No worries! I’m more than happy to help you troubleshoot this problem.

To provide you with better assistance, please answer the following questions:

  • Is your mobile device connected to the same WiFi network as your Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen)?
  • Can you describe the status of the 4 LED lights? (Please refer to this article for reference: Google Nest and Google Home device LED lights.).
  • Did you receive any error messages in the Google Home app after performing a factory data reset and trying to set up your Google Nest Mini?
  • How far from the router is your Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen)?
  • How far from your Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) is your mobile device when attempting to connect?
  • Is there another Bluetooth signal available?
  • Has the Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) been dropped or knocked over?
  • Do you have the latest version of the Google Home app?
  • Is your iPhone paired and connected to the Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen)?

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Hey Virnab,

Yes, my iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as my Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen). The 4 LED lights on the device are white and static. I did not encounter any error messages in the Google Home app while performing a factory reset or during setup. The Google Nest Mini is about 50 cm away from the router, and my phone is within a 2-meter radius. The connection is always established but frequently disconnects without any clear reason.

There are no other Bluetooth signals in the room, and the Google Nest Mini has never been dropped or knocked over; it’s only 10 days old. I am using the latest version of the Google Home app on my iPhone, and my phone successfully pairs and connects to the Google Nest Mini, but it disconnects frequently.

It’s worth mentioning that I use my iPhone with various Bluetooth devices throughout the day, like my car radio and earphones at the gym, and I do not experience any disconnect issues with those.

Waiting for your reply and hoping there’s a solution, as this issue is really annoying.

Looking forward to your help!

Best Regards,

Agapios

Hi Agapios,

Thank you for your prompt response and the detailed information you've shared. It's been helpful in understanding your situation.

Based on the information you provided, I suggest following these steps:

  1. Check if your Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) is set up and able to play audio from media sources properly even while not connected to the Bluetooth device. For example, you can say, "Okay Google" or "Hey Google," then 'Play [song name] on [music service].'
  2. Once your mobile device is paired and connected to Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen), use basic and advanced music commands to listen to music and playlists or listen to radio stations, get the latest news from sources you trust, manage tasks, get answers, etc. You can go to this article for more information: Explore what you can do with Google Nest and Home devices.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,
