Nest Mini region selection

I am trying to set up my Nest Mini using Google Home.

When I select a region and click next, the screen just flashes very briefly and nothing happens.

I get stuck the whole time choosing the region. Restarting, reinstalling, etc. has so far brought nothing. Choosing any other regions is also not working.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

I hope you all are doing well. Our team is aware of this behavior and is still looking further into the issue. To help with their investigation, please submit feedback using your Google Home app. Check out the steps below for guidance:

 

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Tap Feedback and then tap the type of device you'd like to submit feedback for.
  4. To display available emails, in the "From:" section, tap the arrow on the right. Select your email address.
  5. In the feedback summary, write a brief description of your issue and include the keywords “GHT3 Unable to select country/region during setup”
  6. Be sure to check the box for Screenshot and System logs.
  7. To submit feedback, at the top right corner, tap Send .

and if I can add, people don’t have vpn on their iphone by default. It’s a separate option that you need to register with a third party supplier. If you don’t know what a vpn is, you don’t have one setup. So in your case, this is not the issue.

I appreciate both of you explaining it to me. I ended up getting everything working by using a separate device to set the nest point back up

i have google home mini and google nest mini and i never had this types of problems before, this is so frustrating i have them for years now and never had this problem before, yess i changed adresses, yess i changed cities, yess i changed wifi passwords but never had this problem now all of a sudden google nest mini 2 of tham wont let me past the country selection same as the others explained it just blinks for a split sec and i cant pass that screen, please get a workaround or fix this.

Hi, I am having the exact same issues - I have factory reset the nest mini 2 times, and also uninstalled and reinstalled the application. Me and my girlfriend have both tried and get the same issue, a small flash when we press continue and then nothing happens. I am using an iPhone 12 Mini and my girlfriend is using an iPhone 12.

Hey Mearnsy,

 

To confirm, is this a first time set up? What type of network connection do you have (public or private network)? Also, do you have an Android device that you can try?

Not a first time setup, it’s worked multiple times before on different networks. Private connection, wifi. 

we do not have an android device we could try.

Hi. I am having exactly the same issue as all others have described here with my new Google nest mini. Selecting country (in my case Australia) in region selection makes screen just flicker for a moment then nothing happens. I'm using Iphone 11 to setup and i have many other Google products on my wifi network with no issue like this before.

The net is brand new out of the box so i fail to see why i should have to reset it? Also why should i need to use a different phone to setup my device, all my other devices work with this phone?

It is clear from the number of people with the same issue that this is a real problem that Google need to rectify and fine the root cause, this is so frustrating. I still don't have it working.....

I updated the app on my iphone and went through the set up process with my google home mini and works fine now

Can we get an actual update and real help here? I dont have another device to try this with. Are you telling me Im just screwed? Its clear that the google app for this on iOS does not work right. I dont know how google’s department communication structure works, but if you can get word to anyone who can actually fix this, a lot of people (me included, who has trued resetting all devices and internets involved, and have a brand new out of box set of these things, none of which can function) would be very happy.

One of my nest wifi points randomly went offline the other day and in setting everything back up after resetting it I’m getting stuck in the same loop. I live in the United States and have selected it as such and can’t get it to get past the country page. I hit continue and it brings me back to the country page in an endless loop and I still can’t get my wifi point to work. Very frustrate. It’s worked fine for 3 months since setting it up, and now, all of a sudden it just doesn’t want to connect.

I'm having the same issue.  Factory reset on my Google Home mini and set up will not proceed past the country selection.  I am in the United States and using an iphone 12.
