Nest Photo Frame and family members

I have a Nest Hub Max set up with Photo Frame from a Google Photos album I’ve made.  When a family member sees a photo they like, how can they add it as a favourite in their account or share it with themselves?  Everything seems to require me as the “owner” of the photo to initiate the action.  Can I share everything by default to allow them to favourite themselves?

Hi mjkadour,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

When your Google Nest Hub or Google Nest Hub Max display isn't in use, it can quietly keep you entertained. You can add your favorite photos to Google Photos and display them in your Google Nest Photo frame. Alternatively, you can choose an existing art gallery or select from a variety of traditional and abstract clocks to show while your device is idle.

Right now, the only photo that can be displayed on the photo frame is from the main user/account linked in Google Nest speakers. However, as an option, you might want to check these steps:

Set up Live Albums

Live Albums automatically add photos from your Google Photos library so you don’t have to manually update the photos on your Nest display.

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings and then Photo Frame.
  4. Tap Google Photos and then Select family & friends.
  5. Tap the faces you want to include and then Confirm or Done.

Photos of your family and friends should now appear on your Nest display.

Note: Make sure you enable face grouping in the Google Photos app.

When a photo is on your Nest display screen, you can do the following:

  • To go to the next photo, swipe left or say “Hey Google, next photo.”
  • To go to the previous photo, swipe right or say “Hey Google, previous photo.”
  • To learn more about the photo, ask “Hey Google, when was this taken?” or “Hey Google, where was this taken?”
  • To remove the photo, say “Hey Google, remove this photo” and follow the prompts. The photo should now be archived in Google Photos.
  • To share the photo with one of your Google contacts, say “Hey Google, share this photo with <contact name>” and follow the prompts. You can also share groups of photos.
  • To mark a photo as favorite, say “Hey Google, favorite this photo.” This photo should now appear in your Favorites album.

Voice interaction with photos is available in most Google Assistant languages that work on your Nest display.

Share groups of photos with your Google contacts

  1. From your Nest display, say:
    • “Hey Google, share my photos.”
    • “Hey Google, share photos of <person> with <contact name>.” You can also ask to share photos of a specific place, object or date.
  2. Your display should show photos with the details that you specified.
  3. Select the photos you want and then tap Share.
  4. The photos are shared via Google Photos, and the recipient should receive an email or text message to notify them that they have received new photos.

Hope this info helps.

Best,

Princess
