My nest audio speaker will only respond correctly on about 10-15% of occasions. Usually says there’s been a glitch and to retry in a few seconds. I’ve tried resetting it and restoring to factory settings. I’ve removed and reinstalled it from the home app but none of this has helped. I checked the cast firmware version today and it is 2.58.384934 but google say it should be 2.57.375114. Could this be the problem and if so how do I update it? I’m very frustrated by the speaker not working as it controls lights and plugs in my home so it’s very inconvenient. The routines work fine but if I ask it do something nine times out of ten it won’t do it!

Hi tuppence,
Thanks for posting—let's get this sorted out. Do you have other Google Nest speakers and displays aside from your Google Nest Audio? Are you enrolled in the Preview program? If yes, try leaving the program > Reboot Google Nest Audio and monitor if there are any changes to its behavior.
Regards,
Alex

I’m not involved with the Preview Program - never heard of it! I have 3 mini speakers which all work fine. It’s the best audio that has the problem. It’s always been really temperamental but it’s got worse in the last 6 months. I have tried rebooting it many times but no improvement

Hi there,
Thanks for checking. Are you using a dual-band router? If yes, have you tried connecting your Google Nest Audio to the other band? Also, what is the distance of your Google Nest Audio from the router?
Best,
Alex

The router is in the same room as the speaker. I only use one band.
I’ve actually bitten the bullet and bought a new speaker as I’ve been so frustrated with the old one!
