From what I understand of the Sony lawsuit, individual devices cannot be in more than one group. I have multiple groups called the same name and I don't know how to get rid of them.
When I go to the home page and select "devices, groups and rooms" and then on the next page select a specific room under "rooms" and then under room settings click "devices" I see a bunch of groups, that don't work by the way, with the same name under the section titled "add new" and I don't know how to delete those so I only have one group for that device as per the lawsuit.
Could this be part of the problem of having speakers not work in groups because the old groups don't go away when you delete them they just stay and hang out and cause problems?

Hi youpickone,
Thanks for reaching out to this community.
I’m sorry to hear that you have been trying to remove from your Google Home app multiple groups called the same name, but you don't know how to remove the ones that don't work and leave only the group you need for your Nest audio speaker to work. No worries, help is here.
In the meantime, please try to delete your speaker groups following these instructions:
Please note that if you delete a group that's currently casting media, group playback will stop, and all audio devices in the group will stop playing.
Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Virna
