Nest hub 2nd gen not connecting to Home App

My nest hub is not being picked up by the Home App. Keep saying device needs to be activated.

always plugged in.
how do you check firmware, and how do you update it, this is 1 week old nest hub!
reset multiple times, same result, rebooting at various times.
 
how about a replacement?

Thanks for bringing this up, and apologies for the delayed response. I know how challenging it can be when you're having issues with your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). A few questions - is this a first-time setup? How far is your Nest Hub from the router? Is it responding when you say a command? Are you using a dual-band router? 

 

  1. Make sure that mobile data is off.
  2. Move your Google Nest device within 15-20 ft. away from the router to get enough signal from your network.
  3. Reboot your Google Nest device and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.
  4. Turn WiFi on and off on the mobile setup device.
  5. Try to use a different phone and see if you will have the same issue.
  6. If it is still the same, factory reset your device.

I eventually got it set up, I just used the home app I have installed on my laptop. It was just frustrating having to go between my phone and CPU to install the nest and Google mini speaker.
