Nest hub default display samsung TV & wifi 5G problem

Community Member

Previous setting:

1. samsung q95t (cable connect, connected with smartthing app as well as google home app, same router)

2. google nest  mini 2 (5Gwifi connect, connected with google home app, same router)

3. google home app installed in Apple Iphone 12 pro with ios version 14.7.1.

Current setting: (changed from nest mini2 to nest hub2)

2. google nest hub 2 (2.4G wifi connect, connected with google home app, same router)

i can use voice command to change the channel & open some app like youtube on TV

************

After I bought Nest Hub, i connect it to google home app & connect to wifi (detected 5g wifi but it keep saying my wifi password is wrong). So I connect it to 2.4G wifi and it is work.

However, I cant control my TV now, I tried to change the default display from nest hub to TV but it doesnt work.

i checked it in this forum and noted that samsung TV is not supported with nest hub. But why nest mini 2 is fine?

May I know how can I not make nest hub to play music/video in nest hub itself?

i just wanna control my TV via nest hub.

thanks

Hey there,

I'm so sorry for the late response, but I wanted to hop in here to make sure we addressed your problems. I can understand how this kind of issue would be confusing, but I'm happy to help.

Since the TV is linked to Google Home via SmartThings, I recommend unlinking and relinking SmartThins on the Google Home app to make sure that the TV is linked to the same email that is linked to the Nest Hub devices. If the issue remains the same, it would help us better understand the issue if we can get the exact voice commands and error messages you're getting from Nest Hub devices.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Garrett DS

For example, turn on/open the youtube/netflix in samsung tv/tv

no matter what Command, it also open youtube & netflix in the nest hub instead of TV.

please advise what command should I use to open app in TV instead of nest hub.

Hello Jjaytang,

Thank you for your reply back! We have some more quick questions to get a better understanding of this situation.

  • Have you tried unlinking and relinking SmartThings?
  • Does the TV show up on the Google Home app?
  • Could you please try the same command from the Google Assistant on the Google Home app on your phone/tablet (same account is signed in). Does the issue still occur?

I appreciate your patience, let's get this issue resolved!

Hello Jjaytang,

Thank you for your patience! I just have one more suggestion.

You mentioned that your TV is connected via cable to the router. Could you try connecting the TV to the same wireless network that the other Google Home devices are connected to?

Please let me know if this makes any difference. Thanks again!
