Nest hub stuck on blank screen (white screen)

A couple of days ago I woke up and noticed that my Nest hub was trying to boot but never succeeded. It was stuck in the circulating-four-dot animation.

Reboot did nothing. I factory reset the device and the setup via Home app went fine until the last stage where the Nest present “Finish setup in app” and the Home app shows “Installing latest updates please wait”. 

 The Nest hub never finalizes the setup and if I manually tap “Finish setup” on the Nest hub display, I’m left with a white blank screen. Assistant responds with “Something went wrong. Please try again later” when I say “Hey Google”. I can also access the “menu” by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen and the actions in that bottom drawer works fine but nothing else works. If I reboot the Nest hub gets stuck again at the circulating-four-dot animation.

I’ve reset several times since. I’ve left it powerless several hours. I’ve left it powered on stuck in boot process several hours. I have no idea what to do next and I can’t see any detailed solutions in the forums with users that has the same issues.

When I started troubleshooting this my suspicion was some form of FW/SW update during night that has gone wrong. Please do share if you have any ideas regarding why this happens and what can be done.

You could try starting it in recovery mode, as described in this post:

Hello everyone, 

@MplsCustomer, thanks for lending a hand.

@sh4n, please try setting up your Google Nest Hub using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will turn on the mobile hotspot and the other will be used to set up your display). You need to factory reset the device first before going through the configuration process.
