My new nest mini 2nd gen speaker constantly drops connection and requires three attempts to respond to commands. I always get “something went wrong” the first couple times. Seems to drop connection - I have Verizon Fios Gig internet.

Have you tried rebooting your Nest Mini either from within the Google Home app or by unplugging it for a minute?
Can you temporarily put your Nest Mini in a different location closer to a Wi-Fi access point just to determine whether the cause is a weak Wi-Fi signal in its current location?

Hi folks,
Thanks again for helping here, @MplsCustomer. @Bahrm, have you had the chance to follow the suggestions above? In addition, it would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot, refreshing all connections. Unplug the power cord of your router/modem followed by your Nest Mini and all other devices. Restarting your phone might also help.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Dan

Thanks but I fixed it by removing my second home from the google home app.
