Have a near mini in the living room and for years have used it to control the lights in the living room without issue.
Past couple of months a good few times a week when we give the "lights X%" command, the 4 dots stay lit up on the device for about 10 seconds before we get the "hmmm, there appears to be a problem, please try again" message.
I bought a brand new speaker, and same issue.
And to make it even more annoying, when the living room speaker is borking out, generally the kitchen speaker decides 'if no-one else is going to do that for him, I might as well, and turns all the lights on/off in the entire house thinking its being helpful.
I try and submit bug reports each time it happens, but getting fed up with it. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Oracus,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.
This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. Have you been experiencing Wi-Fi issues recently? Were there any recent changes on your Wi-Fi router that you are aware of?
You can try to do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest speakers for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal. Observe if this will make a difference.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Juni

Hey Juni,
Thesis for the reply
No changes to wifi for about a year, and re trying a reboot, I bought a brand new nest mini and still have exactly the same issue with it. Though, the whole system (wifi and speakers) gets rebooted once a week or so, and the issue has been intermittent for a couple of months.

Hi Oracus,
Thanks for trying that. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. Are you getting this message when controlling the lights only? Are you able to control your lights via the Google Home app? How about through its native app? Do you have other third party devices linked to your Nest Mini? If so, are you able to control them?
You can do a factory data reset, to put your Nest Mini back to default and set it up again as a new device. Once done with the setup do the command “Hey Google” then “Sync my devices”. Once confirmed try controlling your lights via voice command again. Check the steps below on how to perform the factory data reset.
Here’s how to do the reset, on the side of your Google Nest Mini, switch the mic off. The LEDs will turn orange. Press and hold the center of your Nest Mini, where the lights are on top. After 5 seconds, your Google Nest Mini will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more until you hear a sound confirming your Google Nest Mini is resetting.
Check this link for more information.
Keep me posted.
Regards,
Juni

Hey Juni,
I've only noticed it with the lights, not any other commands/automations/smart devices, but that's not to say its only the lights, just that's about 90% of the commands used in the living room!
They work perfectly from the Google hubs I've got in the kitchen and the bedroom, and via the Google home app.
Have previously tried factory resetting, (and since it didn't work, bought a brand new device to replace it, and as above, issue remains with that nest mini as well.

Hey Oracus,
Chiming in, what is the app that you use to set up your lights? Are you able to control them via the Google Assistant app on your phone? Also, how many lights are affected?
Cheers,
Muddi

Hey Muddi,
The lights are from Hive (British Gas), but I mainly use Google home/assistant to control everything.
Interestingly just asked for a timer and got the same error (Hmm there seems to be a problem, please try again in a few minutes), and then when I tried to raise a bug report was met by it hanging again, followed by "there appears to be a glitch"
So, not just hive lighting control after all 😞

Hey Oracus,
Oh no! To confirm, does the same thing happen when you use the Google Assistant app on your phone? Let's go ahead and set up your speaker on a different network like mobile hotspot to check if it will have the same behavior. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home/Nest device).
Keep us posted.
Cheers,
Muddi
