Nest mini requires PIN to bluetooth to windows 10 via 2.1 EDR USB dongle?

Nest mini requires PIN to bluetooth to windows 10 via 2.1 EDR USB dongle?

Windows bluetooth via a 2.1 EDR USB dongle can "see" the Family room Speaker (it appears in the list of devices).

Upon choosing connect Windows is then asking for the device PIN.

The usual suspects (0000,1111,1234) don't work.

Windows then says "We didn't get a response from the device, try connecting again"

The device (mini) is in pairing mode as is the PCs bluetooth (discoverable)

The dongle can find and pair all other devices (bluetooth speakers, mobile phones etc.)

The mini can pair with mobile phones, other devices and doesn't require a PIN to do so.

Some have suggested a Windows problem

Hi Mule107,

Thanks for reaching out.

To help you with connecting your device via Bluetooth, you may follow these steps:

Complete these steps if it’s the first time you’re connecting your speaker to your Google Nest or Home device.

  1. Turn on your Bluetooth speaker and make sure it’s in pairing mode. Press the pairing button on your Bluetooth speaker, if possible.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Make sure you're in the right home. The name of the home is at the top of the screen. To change homes, tap the arrow next to the home name.
  4. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  5. At the top right, tap Settings and then Audio.
    • If this is your first time to use Bluetooth on this device, tap Paired Bluetooth devices and then Enable pairing mode and then go back to Audio.
  6. Tap Default music speaker and then Pair Bluetooth speaker. Your Google Nest or Home device will then scan for Bluetooth devices.
  7. Tap the Bluetooth device once it appears on the screen and then Done.
  8. Your Bluetooth device will now pair with your Google Nest or Home device.

Tips to pair and connect devices

  • You can only have one connected Bluetooth speaker or headphones to play music through at a time.
  • Once you pair and connect your Bluetooth speaker to a Google Nest or Home device, it will auto-connect unless the speaker gets disconnected or turned off.
  • You can pair a Google Nest or Home device to multiple Bluetooth enabled speakers or headphones, but it will only connect to the most recently connected device.
  • Check which mobile devices are connected to your Google Nest or Home device.

Unpair a speaker and Google Nest or Home device

This will remove your Bluetooth speaker from the paired device list. You'll need to pair and connect this speaker to use it again.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold the Google Nest or Home device you want to unpair.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings and then Audio and then Paired Bluetooth devices.

Tap the X next to the device you want to unpair and then Unpair.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess
