Daughter just got a new nest mini. Having trouble connecting to the internet. When I get to that step, it just freezes. I've waited about an hour and nothing happens. I've restarted the nest. I've reinstalled home on my phone. I've set the nest right next to my router. I have triple checked my Wi-Fi password. Any suggestions?

Thanks for posting and doing some troubleshooting steps. Let's get this sorted out.
Quick question — were there any recent changes to the network? Have you tried using a different mobile device? Also, try setting up the Nest Mini using hotspot and let's see if that works?

No changes to the network recently. I tried using my wife's phone to set it up using the Home app (thinking maybe the issue was my phone). That did not work. I also took the nest to my work to see about setting it up on my work internet network (thinking it might be an issue with our internet). I had the same problem. When I get to the step of setting up the internet connection (after putting in the network password) it freezes and shows "Setting Up Internet Connection" but nothing happens.
I will try using a hotspot from my phone to see if that does anything when I get home from work. Also, I don't know if it matters but I am using a Pixel phone to do the set up.

Hi Kory,
Thanks for trying those steps. You are right, setting up the Nest Mini on an office network or any public network will not work. When setting up using hotspot make sure to use 2 mobile devices to set up, one working as the router and the other one as the set up phone. I tried using the hot spot method this morning and it worked. But how do I get it to connect to my home wifi? Why did it work this time?

Thanks for trying that. Glad to know that it's already working using mobile hotspot. Since we have ruled out that the issue is within your home Wi-Fi set up, you can check on the following settings:
