Nest mini won't connect to new router

I have had the google nest mini speaker for 2 years working fine, but virgin media have had to replace my router so i need to re connect the speaker to the new network name.

I am going through the steps in the android Google home app.

it sees the device

It connects to the device

4 blue dots appear on the speaker.

It plays the test sound

I select the new network ssid and click next and now i get the error, cant connect to the nest device!

I have tried rebooting router/speaker/phone

I have tried 2.4 and 5ghz network selections

Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hi MartinP2001,

Sorry to hear that you are having an issue reconnecting your Chromecast Audio to your network, but thanks for being a step ahead of us. A few questions — is your Nest Mini within 15 to 20 feet (5 to 6 meters) away from your router? Are there any other networking devices on your network aside from the wireless router, such as an extender, repeater, or another access point?

Could you try resetting your Nest Mini by pressing and holding the center of your Nest Mini, where the lights are on top. After 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more, until a sound confirms that the device is resetting. Also, before setting it up try reinstalling your Google Home app.

Looking forward for your response.

Thanks,

Alex

Hey there,

Checking back in — did the suggested steps work?

Best,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the information.

Performing a full factory reset has now enabled me to reconnect the Google Mini speaker to the network and use it again.

Many thanks.
