I have a Nesthub Max. I have 3 nestcams. I want to be able to talk and listen to the cameras. I can do this on my phone using the Home app as there is a large blue microphone button. Why is this button icon not on the nest hub max? I can view live video but not converse with the camera.

Hi,
The Nest Hub Max does support two-way communication with Nest cameras, so you should be able to talk and listen to your cameras from the device. Here are some steps you can try to enable two-way communication on your Nest Hub Max:
Make sure that your Nest cameras are set up and connected to your Nest account.
Ensure that your Nest Hub Max is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest cameras.
Open the Google Home app on your smartphone and navigate to the Devices tab.
Find your Nest Hub Max and tap on it to open the device settings.
Scroll down to the "Video and audio" section and make sure that the "Two-way audio" option is turned on.
Once you have enabled two-way audio, you should be able to talk and listen to your Nest cameras on your Nest Hub Max by saying "Hey Google, talk to [camera name]" or "Hey Google, stop talking."
If the blue microphone button is not showing up on your Nest Hub Max, you may need to try resetting the device or contact Nest support for further assistance.
Thanks.

I don't seem to have the settings you suggest. I open the Google home app. I've gone to the tile that says Nesthub and if I click on it I get a settings icon in the top right. If I click on that I get general settings and device features. I've tried rebooting. Sadly I can't find any setting that says enable two way audio. Thank you

Our Nest Hub Max does not have a "Video and audio" section under settings, and there is no "Two-way audio" option anywhere.
On Nest Hubs and the Nest Hub Max, you only get a blue microphone icon and the ability to talk through the camera for doorbells. It's always been that way; here is a long thread from two years ago from customers complaining they only get a microphone option when viewing their doorbell:

Thank you so much for that information. I shan't spend any more hours of my life wading through menus to enable something that just isn't there. I have a nestcam in the garden and the Nesthub Max in the kitchen. I just wanted to communicate via the camera when I'm in the kitchen to call the family in for lunch etc. Seems odd that it isn't an included feature. It seems my smart home is a little bit less intelligent than it should be. Hopefully Google will eventually sort this out. Thank you once again.

Hey Greyrider,
Thanks for visiting the Community. I appreciate and help here!
I can confirm that the feature that you are looking for is not available on the Google Nest Hub Max. As an alternative, you can use the Google Home and Nest app for two-way communication for your cameras.
We're always looking for ways to improve, and we'll take this as feedback. You can also send feedback using your device by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback." Visit this link for more steps.
Let us know if you have additional questions or concerns about your device, otherwise; I'll close the thread after 24 hours.
Cheers,
Muddi
