Network requirements for Nest Audio groups

Hello,

Is anyone able to provide low level networking requirements for Nest Audio speaker group functionality?

I have two Nest Audio speakers on a UniFi mesh network, and find that if I try to use voice to start Spotify playback on a speaker group, nothing happens.

However, if I start playback on one speaker, then manually add the other through the home app, the audio starts but the app gives an error saying it couldn't connect so the app does not think the other speaker is playing audio. I am therefore unable to ungroup the speakers or control volume on the second speaker.

I've been through all the normal BS troubleshooting steps of resetting and setting the devices back up and recreating the groups etc with support, but nothing has worked.

I've seen mention of mDNS in these forums before, but I have this enabled on the UniFi network so wonder if there is some other protocol coming into play here?

Thanks

Eds

This is resolved.

It appeared the issue was that the Home app kept deleting the speaker group, so we were asking it to play to a group it could not find.

After several attempts at recreating the group, it has stuck, and things now work as expected.

Thanks

Hello Eds89,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Community Forum. I understand you want to know the requirements level network for your Nest. So, I'm here to provide you with more information.

It’s great to know you’ve already taken some troubleshooting steps so far. To get a better understanding of the situation, please help me out by answering the following questions:

  • When did the trouble first occur?

  • How far is the speaker group from your Wi-Fi router?

  • Have you checked if your speakers are up to date?

If you have any more information that could be helpful, please let me know.

Regards,

Daniel
