News in routines not playing

Hi, my routine will not play the news for me. Sometimes it acknowledges that I have requested it by saying "here's the news" but then it goes silent before continuing the rest of my routine commands. If I ask for the news directly, it plays my default news source without issue. I have set the news routine up with a custom voice command because I am using the "play" media for music at the end of the routine. Can anyone help me get my news up and running in my routine?
