No Notification on Google Home/Nest for Tasks Created on Google Calendar/Phone

I have two google home mini speakers. Prior to the migration from reminders to tasks, if I created a reminder on my google calendar either in the app or the browser, I would receive an audio notification for this reminder on my google home. However, with the transition to tasks, now when I put a new tasks on my calendar via my phone or browser I receive no notification from my Google home. I do get a notification for tasks that are created on my Google home however.

Migrating your reminders to tasks is permanent and cannot be undone. Your reminders are now tasks. Tasks appear with events in your calendar and are indicated with a check mark . To view your tasks, turn on the "Tasks" calendar. Could you create a new task and see if it will notify you? 

Also, toggle the notification on your phone and let's see if this will make any difference:

1. Open your phone's Settings app.
2. Tap Apps & notifications Notifications.
3. Tap your Google app .
4. Turn Reminders on or off.

Here are some commands that you can also use:

You can view and edit your reminders as tasks in:

• Assistant
  • “Hey Google, show me my tasks.”
  • “Hey Google, show my reminders.”
• Calendar
• Tasks in:
  • The side panel across Workspace on your desktop
  • Mobile apps

@Princesss I am facing the same issue as mentioned by the OP. When I create a new task on my phone/desktop on Google Calendar, Home mini does not give an audio notification. It only gives it when the task is created by a voice command. Can you help fixing it ?

Thanks for posting.

Have you already tried checking the steps posted above on enabling your notification? You may also try these steps:

1. Open the Google Home app .
2. Tap Settings Notifications.
   • If push notifications are not enabled in your device's settings, a banner will appear on the screen. To turn on push notifications in your device's settings, tap the link in the banner and follow the steps.
3. Select General notifications.
4. Turn any notifications on or off.
   • If you turn on critical alerts, but they're not enabled in your device’s settings, a banner will appear on the screen. To turn on critical alerts in your device's settings, tap the link in the banner and follow the steps.

Let me know if this works for you.

these steps do no work. there is no "general" in settings.

With the migration from reminders to tasks we've lost the ability to hear the google home device iteself announce the item.

I notice that there is no start sound when a task comes up on display. There used to be when it was an event. Now it has a sound coming from my iPhone and than display will tell me my task. Did the start sound (chime I call it) go away? Or there is none for tasks?

I have followed all the steps above and still do not get audible alerts on my NEST speakers from reminders migrated to tasks.

For example, I had a reminder every day to leave to pick up my son. My nest would remind me each day. After the migration, this no longer happens, though the task does appear on my pixel phone. 

A newly created task has no options for reminders, so no nest notification occur for those either. This was really useful functionality

I guess I spoke too soon. Tonight my iPhone alerted me than the task came on display. No sound though. At least I don’t think. Had tv on and sometimes I don’t hear the display but always heard the chime 🤷‍♀️

The problem we're having is that the google home device used to give an audible alert and now it doesn't. Instead the phone gives a notification and alert.

I did hear my announcement/task on display. I miss the chime. I miss our old system. 🙁 don’t mind the reminder on phone. Reminds me of Alexa. That is how it used to work when I had Alexa. I had it set up to remind me on phone encase I was out. And it would remind on Alexa speaker as well.

Having the same problem. Still no solution. Also when my nest mini shows the Led that indicates that there is a notification, saying what's up won't work anymore.

Experiencing the same problem, tasks do not work right, i ask google what my reminders are, it knows they exist, but it NEVER happens.

Same here, no audible notifications from nest for calendar tasks or events

The same with me too.  My nest no longer notify me my daily reminders.  It just quiet. I deleted all reminders and recreated  them recurring for daily only announced once and then stopped

I agree. I miss the old way. Goes with saying sometimes change isn’t better. Especially when it doesn’t work. What a waste!
