No Swipe Left

Just unboxed the device and I can’t swipe left. Just brings me to photo frame. Can’t even get through tutorial.

What you should do is after you've used it for a bit, unplug it and replug it in.  This will force it to do a firmware update.  I brought mine home today and it had some really old firmware... 2.1 something... it takes about 10 minutes roughly for it to update.  Try swiping left after it finishes.  Also, when you try to swipe left, put your finger just left of the bar on the right side, not on it or past it.

Hi there,
 

Were you able to complete the setup in the Google Home app? Is Google Nest Hub Max responding to your “OK/Hey Google” commands? Try to unplug the power cable from the back of your Google Nest Hub Max for a minute > Plug back in. Let me know how it goes.
