I am having the exact same issue as this user:
wr also use the nest cam as a baby monitor. I have a google nest hub and a nest hub max. Neither of them play the cam audio. It’s video only.
on the google home app I am able to see the video and hear the audio.
I have a 2nd gen wired camera.

Deleted the camera from the household and started from scratch with ut
Rebooted the googles nest hub max
Fun fact. The issue is with our google nest hub max. The google nest hub in a different room works just fine

Gotcha, If the issue is isolated to just the Nest Hub Max, Try a factory reset to put it back to its default settings and set it up one more time. Check the instructions below:
