My wifi needed to be rebooted so I am trying to reconnect my nest hub. I completed it and it says it connects but then it says something went wrong and I need to turn on local network access on my phone….but it is turned on….

I have gone through the trouble shooting list and nothing is working. What do I need to do?

Hello @Megs1883,

Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand the frustration of encountering difficulties reconnecting your Nest Hub after a reboot. The error message indicating the need to turn on local network access, even when it's already enabled, is indeed perplexing.
To give you the right steps, I need you to answer the questions below:

  • Why was the Nest Hub disconnected?
  • Did you perform a factory reset on the Nest Hub?
  • Are other devices experiencing similar connectivity issues on your network?

In the meantime, you can try these additional steps:

  1. Try uninstalling the Google Home app and installing it again.
  2. Power Cycle Your Network: Turn off your modem, router, and Nest Hub, wait for a few minutes, and then power them back on one by one, starting with the modem.
  3. Forget and Re-add Network: On your phone, forget the Wi-Fi network and then re-add it. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

Please let me know how it goes. Thank you.

Regards,
Jorge

I realize this is a late notice however, some routers do not switch easily from 5G to 2.4G.  It depends on the router brand.  And rebooting the router is not conducent to being productive.  As an IT SME when someone says reboot the router.  Never ever.  That is always the standard comment.  My advice is to if it is on 2.4G, then change to 5.  And sometimes, routers only allow an X amount of 2.4G devices on their channel.  I have tons of wireless devices on 5G and tons of IOT devices on 2.4G.  It would be a mess if I rebooted for everytime someone said reboot.  It is not needed.
