Hi Guys I recently purchased an LG G2 OLED TV and I've been trying to link my Google assistant account to the TV but unfortunately when trying to add the TV as a device on my Google assistant app, it just won't find the device. As if the TV is not "discoverable" to the Google assistant. In my Google home app there is a device that is grayed out and reads "Offline Google assistant on LG ThinQ". I cannot delete this device. I also have another device that shows up labeled "TV", which only gives limited access to turn on and off the TV, but doesn't work most of the time I am able to add the the LG ThinQ skill to the Google home app via linking my ThinQ account, and I am also able to completely control the TV through the native LG ThinQ app.
The onboard Google assistant on the TV is working and I am able to login to my Google account on the TV, however it only provides limited functionality. I am able to ask the Google assistant basic tasks like "what's the weather today". I can even ask the Google assistant on the TV to turn my lights off successfully. The problem lies when I try to ask Google to perform more advanced tasks like "show me the front door camera", this feature does not work.
Ive tried several troubleshooting steps on both an iphone and Android smartphone that include the following:
-Logging out of LG account on TV, removing device from ThinQ app and re-adding. Changing the LG account completely and re-adding
-Unlinking ThinQ skill on Google home app and re-linking, on original LG account and creating new account
-Deleting the Google home app and the LG ThinQ app and re-installing (on both devices)
-Connecting the TV and smartphone onto a WiFi hotspot so that they are the only two devices on the network.
-changing WiFi settings on the TV to IPV6, (not automatic) and changing DNS to 8.8.8.8
-Factory resetting the TV (3 separate times) ensuring all voice recognition agreements are selected. Initializing TV setup through ThinQ app on smartphone, as well as direct setup on the TV itself. Ensuring that "Smart Speaker" toggle switch is selected during TV setup and trying search for the TV on the Google assistant app simultaneously. TV still cannot be found.
Ive seen some related articles in the past and I'm not sure if anyone else had a resolution on this up untill now. It is quite misleading that on the Google assistant website, the LG TV's are mentioned as compatible devices with full assistant functionality and even provide links to purchase the TV through LG's website, however the integration is extremely poor.
I tried reaching out LG on three separate occasions but they have yet to figure out what the issue is. I've tried contacting Google support with the support phone number provided and cannot reach anyone except an automated message to visit support.google.com. (going in circles) I've submitting a support request to Google but they have not yet answered for over a week now.
If anyone has had a similar issue and was able to resolve please kindly share, it would be a great help to me and the rest of the community as I know I'm not the only one having this issue.
Thank You!

Identical problem on a C1. It worked about 50% ish until about two weeks ago and now it only about 10% works. As you said, I have a TV tile that does the basics in Home and a second tile labeled "Google assistant device" that is grayed out and says offline. When I ask Google to turn off the TV, it tells me that power settings are not setup; but they were 2 weeks ago? 1400 for a TV and this is the best LG can do?

Hi folks,
@EricSass, thanks for posting and sorry for the late response. It looks like you've already done a good amount of troubleshooting with this issue. Does your TV have a built-in Chromecast? This is one of the requirements if you want to stream your camera to your TV. If not, This might explain the limitations that you are experiencing. You can check this helpful link for more information.
@Capnmoonmoon, thanks for reaching out. A few things: Does your TV have a built-in Chromecast too? Does it support HDMI CEC? Was this feature working before? Here is a helpful link to know more about this feature.
Keep me posted.
Regards,
Juni

It says it has Chromecast built in. Cec is turned on. The feature worked up until two weeks ago. But not all features have worked. Home has had the grayed out tile since the beginning.

Hey Capnmoonmoon,
To confirm, did you setup the device from the Google Home app or LG ThinQ app? Also, have you tried reaching out with LG support to check if they are getting similar reports?
