Other users not able to add items to a created list

I've created a "Grocery" list on Google Assistant, and I can use voice commands through Google Nest to add items to the list. My wife and daughter can not. The assistant accepts other commands from them, but won't let them add to this list. Is that because the haven't gone through the voice recognition on their phones yet?

Hi jra56_ga,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I understand the importance of having your daughter and wife to be able to add stuff on your shopping list. Let me provide you with more information. You need to add your wife and daughter to your Google Home app so  they can set up their voice match. Check the steps below.

Invite members to a home

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. Switch to the home you want to share.
  3. At the top, tap Add Add and then Invite home member and then Invite person.
    • If you don't find "Invite home member," tap Add person to home.
  4. Enter the name or email address of the person you want to invite to your home and then tap Next.
  5. Review what’s shared when you add someone to your home and then tap Next.
  6. Review the person’s access to your home and then tap Send.
  7. If your Google Family Group isn’t full and the person you’re inviting isn’t already in one, you should get the option to invite them to your Google Family Group.
    • To invite them, tap Add to Family.
    • To skip this step, tap No Thanks.
    • Note: You can have up to 6 members in a Google Family Group.

The person you invite should receive an email with instructions.

Note: If the person you want to invite has already requested to join your home, you need to accept that request instead of sending a new invitation.

If your daughter is under 13 years old check this helpful link.

Keep me posted. .

Thanks for your response. Both my wife and daughter (who is 42, by the way) are already members of my Home group, and have full access to manage devices. But, neither have gone though the voice recognition setup. Is that the only step that's missing? Thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks for the update. Yes, that is correct. Check the steps and helpful link below to get more information about adding a collaborator.

Share a shopping list:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the bottom, tap Home Home and then Settings Settings and then Notes and lists and then Shopping lists.
  3. Tap Menu Menu and then tap a list.
  4. At the top right, tap More More and then Add a collaborator.
  5. Enter a name or email address and then Save.

At the top of the list, you can find members you added.

Create a shopping list on your speaker or Smart Display

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Juni

I cleared the cache in the Home app and haven't had the issue since. One question though: in the suggested fix I got the idea from it mentioned clearing the cache AND clearing data. I was reluctant to clear the data, fearing that would basically be a "reset" that would cause me to have to set everything up again. Would that have been the case, or would my current settings have been safe, even after clearing data? Thanks.

Sorry, I just realized the reply I sent last night was pertaining to another issue that I haven't actually posted about.  As far as my wife and daughter being able to add to a list, I'm still waiting on the to go through the voice recog process.  I'll post results when that is done.  Sorry for the confusion.

My daughter went through the voice recognition and after that was able to verbally add items to the list. Sounds like success to me. Thanks for your help and following up!
