Peacock app not working on Google Home Max

Scuarezma
Community Member

Just recently bought a nest hub max a month ago. I’ve been able to cast the peacock app from my iphone to the display with no problem but as of a couple days ago, it will not play. I get the peacock logo on the nest hub screen (so it does connect) but when I request to play anything from the peacock iPhone app, it stays on a loading screen and nothing happens. I’ve tried to factory resetting the nest hub max. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my phone. I’ve logged in and out of the app. I resettled the network settings on my  iPhone. I’m not sure if it’s the google hub or the app itself. I own a nest hub 2nd gen and even tried using it and same issue occurs.

I'm having the same issue, no troubleshooting has helped so far

Same issue here for the past week and a half though with a Galaxy Note instead of iPhone. Before that it would have no problem for his at a time. I've gone back and forth with Peacock with no luck.

Hey folks,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Right now, linking Peacock TV is not available on Google Nest displays. As a guide, you may check this link: https://goo.gle/44RMFyT

I appreciate everyone's feedback about this and in line with this, we’d like to encourage you to send a feedback for any features that you’re looking forward to using with our Google Nest devices.

Let us know if you have additional questions and I'd be glad to answer it for you.

Best,

Princess

Hello Princess,

Thank you for your response. In my original post, I mentioned that I couldn’t cast Peacock to the display, not link. I’m aware that it cannot be linked. I’ve used my iPhone to cast peacock to my display many times. It’s just not working now.

Thank you.

I realize it can't be linked to the Nest Hub, but up until last week or the week before I could still cast Peacock to my Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max from my phone. Now the Nest Hubs just freeze on the Peacock logo then after a couple minutes go back to the home screen.

Having the same issue. Peacock would cast from my pixel 7 and my wife's iPhone 14 up until a few days ago. Now is stuck. Not a linking issue, it's a casting issue

Having the same issue too. I still cant cast of Xfinity either. Given NBC owned both Xfinity and peacock. I wonder if something on their end

Having the same exact issue - I want to say July 13th it was working fine and July 14th I get the LOGO for about a minute and then poof nothing.

Glad to know I am not the only one. It's been a few weeks of the Peacock logo popping up, and then nothing. Other apps have been casting over just fine, such as Spotify and YouTube.

Same exact issues here. All other casting works fine. Peacock just sticks on the logo and then crashes out.

Hoping for a resolution to this. I'm having the same issue everyone else is referring to. It worked fine up until very recently. Casting shows the Peacock logo, but hitting the "play" button on the app does nothing.

HI folks,

Thanks for the additional details you’ve shared. See the steps below and let me know the result by updating this thread.

  1. Make sure that your phone or tablet and the Nest display are on the same network.
  2. Check if the Peacock app is updated.
  3. Try to Clear the Peacock App Cache.
  4. Make sure that you did not reach the streaming limit.
  5. Disable VPN.

Regards,

juni

Hi Juni,

I've tried all those steps while talking to Peacock support with unfortunately no improvement. I also tried uninstalling it and going back to several older versions of the app before the problem started (4.6.11, 4.6.21, 4.6.22, and 4.7.11), They all had the same result which makes me suspect it's not the app itself that's causing the problem.

Already tried all the applicable steps and even factory reset the nest hub max with no positive results

I've tried all of these with no luck. I'm able to cast other apps, just not peacock

No go. None of these worked. It acts as if it wants to stream. The nest shows the peacock splash screen and makes the cast noise.

Hello I'm also having this same issue between the peacock app and casting (not linking) to both my nest hub and hub max

FL_User

I'm having the same issue with peacock .Just like the Xfinity casting issue which has been happening for months. This is not going to be resolved anytime soon. My hub and hub Max has stopped connecting the Bluetooth speakers and I've called numerous times and I still haven't resolved it.

My theory is that NBC universal which owns Xfinity and peacock has done something on their end that makes it difficult to cast to the Google hubs.

Same issue as everyone else. Was able to cast to hub from my pixel 6 pro up until a few weeks ago.

I am having the same issue. Please fix this

I am having same issue recently, Google please work on this. I used to be able to cast from Peacock app to my nest hub, haven't tried in a week or so but yeaterday/today won't work, I get only the Peacock logo showing on the hub, media never starts streaming. Uninstalled/re-installed Peacock, unplug/reolug Nest hub, verify same wifi network, clear Peacock app cache. Frustrating.

I am having the same issue trying to cast from my iPhone 13. Have done all the suggestions and nothing works.

They are not going to fix it. Maybe this is a peacock issue just like the Xfinity issue

Also having the issue casting from Samsung Galaxy S23. Will probably drop Peacock subscription if not fixed.

I have this issue now with Peacock(used to work), MAX(used to work), and NFL App

I noticed these work on my Chromecast, just not my Home Max.  Cleary, this is a Google issue if multiple apps are not working.  It is clear they are not working to support streaming on Home devices, just Chromecast.

Time to start looking for a new solution...Amazon here I come. Also, these community specialists cleary do not know what they are talking about.

At what point does Google respond or address this ongoing concern?  This thread is just full of users with the exact same Peacock casting issue.
Would be nice to see a Google rep respond with something useful.

I shouldn't have to keep going to this site to find out all the issues / lost functionality with my expensive Google devices.  Next time I'll pick an ecosystem that doesn't discontinue services 2 years after purchase....

Agreed!  Google needs to address this, there is now way they do not know this is a big problem...there are other threads out there talking about this issue.

I don't even see the response I added yesterday evening to the community specialest that repsonded to my post.  Are they just deleting responses?

Disappointing to see so many people having the exact same issue and it get no meaningful resolution after more than a month of complaints.

There were 2 replies early on. Unfortunately they were only cut and paste answers. The first actually not even answering the problem that was mentioned initially. Maybe we will all get lucky and actually get a human reply that will hopefully solve the issue.

I truly believe that Google and peacock couldn't care less about our problems.

I suspect Google is killing the Nest Hub line and just hasn't officially announced it yet. They discontinued third party apps despite Google Assistant still using them, more and more apps are now having problems casting, and they just announced the end of Google Meet and Zoom support. I think the reason we've gotten no significant response from support is that the entire line is dead and this problem won't be fixed unfortunately. I imagine they're trying to push people to the new Pixel tablet as a replacement though I'm not sure why I'd spend more money when they just screwed me over with the only other devices I have from them. Thankfully the rest of my house has Echos instead of Nest Hubs and this reinforces I made the right choice in mostly avoiding first party Google devices.

Yep, just another example of Google being Google again....they do with so many products.  Even things as simple as Google Domains.

I guess I'm not the only one. Peacock will cast to my Google Chromecast but not to my nest hub. All troubleshooting has not helped the issue. 😞

Same issue too from on Android. Frustrating  really.
