Hey.

Is there a way to  add personal routines as buttons to a google nest hub 2nd gen for a home member that didn't set up the device? The hub does not have voice match set up since the member doesn't speak.

Hi pcberggren,

Thanks for posting. I understand that you want a button to start the personal routines since the voice match isn't an option. Don't worry; we are here to help. While voice match isn't an option, you can choose other starters like "Tap to trigger," which creates the button on the Nest Hub.

Here is how:

  • After saving the routine, go to your Nest Hub; the routine should appear as a button on the Nest Hub's display. You may need to swipe down from the top to access the home control screen where routines are usually found. If it doesn't appear automatically, you might need to refresh the display or check the routine settings in the app to ensure it's set to show on the Hub.

You can try using the Google Home app; you can manage and assign routines to the Nest Hub, even without individual voice profiles for each user. This allows anyone in the household to easily activate those routines by tapping the corresponding button on the Nest Hub's screen.

On the Google Home app:

  • Start a routine by tapping Play next to the name of the routine in the Google Home app.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Jenny
