Can anyone advise on how I can get my speaker group (named EVERYWHERE) to play whatever music or radio station I choose (usually Absolute Radio) on ALL speakers whenever I command 'Hey Google' to play?
Nothing I've tried, that works on Alexa will work. I would want this in routines as well as voice commands and only ever want ALL speakers to play the same synchronised music around the house at the same time.
I have tried everything I can think of via all methods available and I can get the speaker next to me to play AFTER it's asked me again after I've given the verbal instruction but it doesn't necessarily play the correct station of my choice. I've 'googled' answers but nothing yet has worked. It shouldn't be this hard.
Thank you.

Hello Redscorpian,
Thanks for posting here in the Speakers and Displays Community forum.
If playing Absolute Radio using individual Google Home or Nest speakers works, you can try saying "Hey Google, play Absolute Radio on Everywhere group". If that didn't work, you can use the radio frequency in the command and create a routine for that exact command with a starter that you'd like.
Let me know how it goes.
Best,
Lovely

Well I asked about 'radio frequency' and there was no response, neither can I see it posted here. I really can't see what you're suggesting as there are no digital radio frequencies that I'm aware of and I don't know any stations that use them either. I don't want to make a speech when I want to play music, I want a voice controlled routine I can operate with the least words possible and the ones I've tried don't work.

Hey Redscorpian,
Sorry for the delayed response. I want to check if you are still having issues playing Absolute Radio on your Google Home and Nest speakers. Our team has released an update on the devices to fix the radio, so let me know if you still need a hand.
Cheers,
Lovely

Delayed response? It's 4 weeks since I posted the original question and get a response about 2 weeks later. I'm getting 'indifferent' results and a number of associated issues. These speakers simply will not just do exactly what is simply being asked consistently - by voice or routine. "Hey Google, play Absolute Radio on Planet Radio on Home Group". Sometimes it works. Other times I'll get a different music source playing something else on some speakers. Spotify I think - so I've 'unlinked' that. I get 'error messages' from Google speaker IN DIFFERENT ROOMS from the one I'm speaking in telling me 'I can't connect to the internet right now, try again later' or 'there's been a glitch, try again in a little while'. Sometimes it does play but not on all speakers and sometimes when it's not playing anything at all the app tells me one, some or all speakers are playing and I'm sitting in silence. I get all sorts of issues but do not consistently get error free streaming of the radio station I simply want to hear.
So how do you check this 'update' has been carried out to all of the speakers? Not that I believe for one second that it'll fix this problem.

Hello Redscorpian,
Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just an added questions: how many Google Home/Nest speakers do you have? How far are they from the router? Have you tried doing a sequential reboot? This will refresh the connection of your devices from your network.

I have 6, reach rebooted and I've also changed the wi-fi band they're connected to - 5GHz now, previously 2.4GHz. No change, possibly worse. All different rooms, faults occur in any of the rooms - not relevant to distance from router. If my voice can be heard by other speakers they will respond differently. Sometimes I'm told an error message BEFORE I've finished an instruction which it then completes successfully. Furthest speaker, in a straight line, would be about 15 meters away, upstairs. 4 downstairs. Nearest are about 3 meters.
So 'no' everything isn't covered as there are other inconsistencies. Regular periods of unexplained silence from one or more speakers. I now have my Samsung TV being on when I've switched it off. I'm not in the room so can't see it but the app shows it as on. This turned my hive heating on yesterday and I've set no routines or schedules for this so I've unlinked that as I really don't need THAT!
Sometimes I can't get Google Home to switch the radio off by voice command or in the app. I have to change the 'station' and keep trying this until they go off - all 6 are always playing as one.
There's just about every problem you can think of, until it creates a few more.

Hey Redscorpian,
I understand that there's no issues on your network. However, since your device is connected to 5.0 GHz, it might not supply enough signal/speed needed for your speakers to work in a group. Remember, 5.0 GHz frequencies provide faster speeds at shorter range. Let's go ahead and try moving your devices within 10-15 ft. away from the router. Once done, check if you'll still have the same issue when playing on speaker group.
Also, could you try asking your speakers to play 105.8 FM on TuneIn? Let's see if you will get the Absolute Radio station.
Cheers,
Muddi
