Until recently, I could ask Google Home to "play the latest Morning Joe podcast" and it would just work. Now, it replies, "Okay, playing the latest episode of Morning Joe (Morning Joe June 16th 23) on Upstairs Speakers"...and then nothing. No playback and no transport controls on the Hub showing progress.
Playing music playlists (e.g. "play Daily Mix 3" or "play some jazz") from my Hub or Mini work as expected, and I can cast any podcast episode directly from my phone in the Spotify app. I can also play the podcasts directly on the Nest Hub or Mini...just not to remote speakers. All podcasts seem to be affected so far, but I've only tested a handful.
The remote speakers are using Chromecast Audio. I've rebooted them, reset them to factory defaults and paired them again in Google Home, rebooted the Nest Hub...all to no effect.

I have the same issue. I additionally noticed that while playing music playlists works when mentioning their name, it doesn't when just saying "play music", which before would just resume the playback.

Yes, I noticed that as well. It will also successfully handle "play country music" or "play classic rock music"...but not just "play music."

Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out.
We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues on playing podcasts with your Google Nest speakers. Since you've already tried a handful of podcast titles, could you please confirm if you are also experiencing this with other music providers other than Spotify? Also, I'd like to know some list of podcasts that you have tried so we can test it out from our end.
Looking forward to your responses.
Best,
Princess

I hadn't been using any other services other than Spotify to play podcasts, but I've tested it now with Pandora and can confirm that there's the same problem using that app. Music works fine, but podcasts just result in silence with no transport controls when you attempt to play them on remote speakers.

Hi Magendanz,
I appreciate your effort. By the way, have you already tried to perform a complete reset on your device and see if that would make any difference? Here's how: https://goo.gle/3x50Yl7
