Playing radio alarm on nest hub 2nd gen

It's a two part question
1. I'm wanting to setup an alarm playing radio/spotify on my nest hub.

I can do this with my nest mini but not with my nest hub. The strangest thing is i can play the radio/spotify normally through my nest hub. Every time i setup an alarm on my nest hub it does the standard buzzer alarm.

2.  I'm wanting to play the alarm music on all speaker throughout my house (i live by myself)?

Yes, I have setup a speaker group and can play radio/spotify through this speaker group normally

Can anyone help?

Hi mcgregor3206,

Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate all of your questions, I would be more than happy to help answer them.

  1. That is an odd issue, your Google Nest Hub should be able to create a media alarm.
  2. Unfortunately, setting up a media alarm on speaker group is not supported on Google Home/Nest device. We're always looking for ways to improve -- we'll take this as feedback and pass it along to the team. You can also send feedback using your device by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback." Check this out for more steps.

As an alternative, you can set up scheduled custom routines where you can set a time for your speakers to play music. You can add the action manually under "Try adding your own, " then type "Play <title> on <name of speaker group>." Please visit this link to learn more about scheduled routines.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I look forward to your response.

Dear,

I wanted to ask the same question and saw this topic about it. So i hope i can jump into this discussion with some new questions.

First of all i tried the steps mentioned but when i did a test run, my alarm goes off with the defaults sound and not the media sound.

I tried saying "Hey google, make alarm at xx:xx and play [spotify song]" but it doesnt work for me.

Is there some difference in countries or language so that this not work for me?

Also is it possible to for example make some alarm where the media is from my favorite list on spotify? So that he just takes a song from my library instead of pointing toward 1 song?

I wish i could configute this alarm in the google home app for setting up the media alarm.

This is the main readon i bougth the nest hub because i was tired of changing my alarm sound on my phone every few days just for the randomness songs.

Hello Vulpturius,

Thanks for reaching out. I would be more than happy to help answer your question.

  • For a media alarm to play on Spotify, your default music choice needs to be set to Spotify on the Google Home App and linked to your device.
  • You can select a song, artist, genre or playlist from your default music service in the Google Home app.
    • To have different music, your best option would be to set it to a genre or playlist.
  • This feature is currently available in English, French (France and Canada), German, Japanese and Spanish on all Google Nest and Home speakers and displays.
  • To set an alarm, you would say: "Set <song or artist> music alarm for 7 AM Monday." (example)

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you!
