Plug control with home/away

Iggyinpa

So it says that you can control plugs and switches with the home and away routines but the only devices listed to control are the HUE lights I have. Home recognizes the Kasa plugs I have and can control them with other routines but not home and away? So how can home and away control my plugs too?

Hey Iggyinpa,

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you, let’s check what’s going on.

A few questions: what Google Home or Google Nest speaker and displays do you have? Have you tried reinstalling your Google Home app?

Give these steps a try:

To set up presence based routines, ask the customer to do the following:

  1. Open the Google Home app and select Routines.
  2. Tap Set up Home & Away Routines.
  3. Select the routines for how devices and settings will adjust:
    1. When the first person comes home.
    2. When everyone’s away.
  4. (Optional) Select the devices to determine if someone’s home.
  5. (Optional) Set up the mobile phone’s location to be used for presence sensing.
    1. Enter the home address and confirm it by placing a pin on the map.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Alex

I saw someone's response but I figured it out on my own. The plugs weren't added to my home, just to Google Home which is silly. I'm also disappointed how slow the gen 2 Nest is. Makes me want to switch back to Alexa.

Hi Iggyinpa,

If you're referring to putting the into groups, then you can follow this step:

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings Settings icon Room.
  4. Choose a suggested room name or scroll to the bottom and tap Add a custom room enter the room name tap Save.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess

Yes, this worked fine. However, I'm disappointed with the response time from my devices, it's just so slow compared to my Alexa devices. They talk too much too. May just stick with Alexa instead.
