Problem setting up Google home mini

Every time I try to set up my Google home mini I get a notice that says there’s a problem because I need to turn on in settings local network. I have turned it on and it still will not connect. I have turned off my iPad then turn it back on, I have pushed and held the button for factory settingsOn the back of the Google home mini and nothing seems to work. For some reason they are not connecting by Wi-Fi. Any ideas on what I do to fix it?

I am having the same problem and cannot find a solution anywhere. Would love to know the fix

Thank you for reaching out. Oh no! I am sorry to hear that your Google Nest Mini is not connecting to your WiFi network. I understand your concern and would be more than happy to help find a solution. First, I have some quick questions to get a better understanding of this situation.

  • Is this the first time you are setting up the device?
  • Is your iPad also unable to connect to WiFi or is it just the Google Nest Mini?
  • Which country are you located in?
  • What kind of WiFi do you have? Is this a private one step connection or a public WiFi that takes you to a login/landing page?
  • Are you on the same WiFi network as your other devices? 
  • Have you tried connecting your device to a mobile hotspot instead? What happens?
