Google Nest Hub Network access requirements. What Ports and IP Address Destinations are required?

Allow Google Home/Nest Mini speakers to only access public Internet IP and port destinations which are REQUIRED for the service to function.

For instance, Nest Mini needs access on TCP and UDP port 53 for DNS requests to 8.8.8.8.  Apparently, it also needs TCP 5228 to unknown endpoints, and ICMP to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. It would also be helpful to understand the local traffic. Some strange UDP broadcasting going on. If Google devices are to be trusted, the traffic should be documented somewhere. Does that document exist somewhere? Thanks

While I can not answer that question I'd like to know how to obtain  the IP address of the Nest mini and set it statically if possible

Hi All,

First, thank you J Czeee for your post. Unfortunately, I do not have a document regarding device traffic. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, thanks!

Hey codewize,

Apologies for the delayed response. You can check out this article on how to obtain your device's IP address. As for obtaining your static IP, you can check your router setting to fix the IP address (once you've obtained the MAC address of device from the Home app).

Hope this helps!
