Hello everyone,
I’m having a problem with my Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen). I can watch regular YouTube videos just fine, but whenever I try to watch a live stream, it either keeps loading forever or freezes on the last frame.
The strange thing is that the same live stream works perfectly on my phone using the same WiFi network.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
Restarted the device
Factory reset
Updated to the latest software
None of this fixed the issue.
Also, I cannot manually change the quality on live streams on the Nest Hub.
Is this a known bug? Are other people experiencing the same issue? If you’ve found a solution, please let me know!
Thanks!
Update:
I also have another Google Nest (2nd generation) that hasn’t been updated, and casting and watching live streams work fine on that one.
Google has now escalated the issue to their senior team for further investigation.
By the way, casting also doesn’t work on my other Nest that has been updated.

I see that it’s now working for many people, and I would like to thank everyone who replied, helped test, and also reported this issue to Google.
Because of all the responses, it quickly became clear that I wasn’t the only one experiencing this problem and that multiple people were dealing with the same issue with YouTube Live on the Google Nest Hub.
It’s really nice to see how many people helped out. With 87 replies and 51 likes by now, this topic has also received a lot of attention, which hopefully helped it get noticed more quickly.
It’s also nice to see that, because of this, I’m now even listed among the Top Kudoed Users.
For me, it is now working again as well.
Thanks again everyone for thinking along, testing, and reporting it!
You guys are the best!
Make sure to check if it’s working for you too 🙂

Google definitely knows about this. Glad I found this group. Mine has been doing the same thing for about a week. Did all of their stuoid recommend fixes. It's definitely something on their end.

I had to send a video yesterday and answer some questions. They said they would escalate it to support immediately, so I’m curious what will happen. 🙂

I have also been having this same issue. It started happening a couple of weeks ago. I have also done all of the recommended fixes and nothing helps. I was playing live stream sleep videos because they would play all night without ads or continue watching? notifications. I hope that it gets resolved quickly because it is so frustrating. Thank you Henrico for getting them to escalate the issue to support.

I called Google & was on the for 2 hours they told me to contact YouTube directly because they have no known reports of this issue, so it must be a YouTube issue. This was 3 weeks ago. I still can't stream live stream videos from YouTube on any of my devices.

Is there a good contact email or other means to report this issue to YouTube? They should be receiving many reports, but I find it difficult to contact someone at YouTube for help or report a problem.

Same issue, everything is up to date, already rebooted all devices. Very stable connection. Only live videos got the issue. Premium user.

Since I have this problem playing live videos, now I can no longer set a shutdown timer if I am using YouTube on Google Nest Hub 2. Does this happen to anyone else? Thank you

With a radio in Tunein and with music in Apple Music, I can't put an off timer either, before I could

I've had exact same issue as others here have described for the last few weeks as well. Tried all the fixes and nothing has worked.

I sent feedback to YouTube through the app to report this issue. Haven’t heard back. Has anyone else contacted and/or heard back from YouTube?

Same issue with mine. Reset. Restart. Same problem persists.

The latest software update has crippled our Google Nest devices making it useless when attempting cast and watch live streams 😡
Did Google respond yet?
We have 47 users and more reporting similar problems and I think if Google doesn't do anything then customers like us will think twice or even thrice when purchasing any new products from them since the software support is crap after so many of us reported similar problems and they are not even doing anything active about it.

Still no response from YouTube.

Just wanted to add another user to the list of people affected.

Same issue as everybody else.

Same issue here, started within the last couple of days on two Nest devices.

Same problem here. Google nest hub won't play any live streamed YouTube video without looping.

Same problem here in Argentina. I've first noticed it about a month ago. Playing live streams news channels was one of the few things these devices were still useful for. The lack of support and disregard for these products is so evident.

I'm having the same issue and like everyone else, I have tried all the troubleshooting steps to no avail

Issue Description:
I am experiencing a persistent issue where YouTube live streams stop playing after only a few seconds on my Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen). This problem started about 1-2 months ago.

Troubleshooting steps already taken:
Since this seems to be specific to live content on the Nest Hub, could you please investigate if this is a known firmware issue or suggest any further steps?

Exact same experience here, starting within the last day or two, casting from iOS devices. Playing a livestream locally on the hub stutters endlessly as well.

I'm in Thailand and I've been having similar problems for the past two months.

I've been having the same issue for weeks now. It usually gets stuck in a 5 second infinite loop.
FYI: Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra with all updates installed and WIFI6E

Bonjour
J’ai le même problème sur tout les Google home nest hub max …
C’est incroyable que Google ne réagisse pas… Car ça donne envie d’aller chez la concurrence si you tube ne fonctionne plus correctement…

I have this issue too. Thought I could stream the NASA launch but I guess not!
04-03-2026 07:34 AM
Well it's been weeks now and it still appears to be affecting everyone's hub, no software fix so far on my end
04-03-2026 08:35 AM
does anyone know if there is a way to manually roll back the firmware to the previous version while Google works on a permanent fix?

Same issue. Trying to watch Artemis live stream on a Nest Hub and it just loops a couple of seconds until I stop casting.

Hello! Please fix this. I was experiencing this issue for over a month at the end of 2025, it resolved, and now it's back. Super frustrating.
