Problem with music group sync of multiple Google Devices

Community Member

I am facing a problem, that the sound delay correction in the google home app does not work for me

Same as in the post below:

If i switch to 200ms delay, nothing is happening

I use a Google TV with a Soundbar and  facing some delay while play in a Group including  2 Google Nest Mini and two google Home Devices. The Nest Minis and the Google Home are perfectly in sync. But even if i create a goup wothout the delaying Google TV, i can not switch to 200ms delay. I can toggle the switch but nothing is happening. All Devices are in the same WiFi Network and are working well. Is

Are there some known issues regarding my described problem?

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi Fabian96,

This is not the experience we wanted you to have, let me help you. A few things: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? Is the delay only happening when your TV and soundbar is included in the speaker group?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

You should always increase the group delay correction for the speaker that is playing last. To identify which speaker to correct:

  1. Cast to the group and try to differentiate which speaker is playing last.
  2. Choose one of the speakers and start increasing the delay correction. If the sync improves, continue with this speaker. If the sync gets worse, set the delay back to "0" and switch to one of the other speakers.

Try these steps to correct group playback delay:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, or speaker or display.
  2. Cast music to the group that's playing out of sync.
  3. Stand between the out of sync speakers (or as close to in between as you can) and adjust their volume levels so you hear them both playing at about the same level.
  4. Open the Google Home app.
  5. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  6. Tap Settings > Audio > Group delay correction.
  7. Move the slider left or right until the audio is in sync.

Note: For many devices, the inherent delay is incredibly short, so group playback will be in sync without any additional adjustments. Do not adjust the group delay correction unless you notice a consistent, significant delay. The group delay correction setting only affects group playback. This setting will have no effect when casting to a single speaker or TV. A device’s group delay correction setting will be applied to all the groups that the device is a part of. If you connect a Chromecast or Chromecast Audio to another speaker or TV, the previous group delay correction setting might be incorrect. Make sure to reset it to "0" delay again and listen to see if additional correction is required.

Keep me posted.

Hi Dan

Rebooting all devices including router and maybe the fact that i got updated to live preview for the new google home app (which is looking great btw) solved the issue. I corrected the delay for the google tv and now all devices are in sync

You can close this case

Best regards
