Problems connecting Google Nest Hub Max (after doing factory reset)

PinLoco

Hi all

I have imported from Canada to Spain a Google Nest Hub Max (In Spain is not sold) to put it to an elderly person and be able to make video calls, as I already do with another elderly person since I have another GNHM at that address.
The thing is that once it arrived I tested it with my google account and with the Wi-Fi of my house, I configured it, tested it and it worked in principle everything perfectly, so I disconnected and the next day I took it to the house of the elderly person where I wanted to install it to configure it there doing a factory reset (pressing 10 seconds the two volumes) to be able to configure it from scratch. The problems started then because we could configure the GNHM but the function of being able to use the camera did not work, so what we did was to do a new factory reset to see if configuring it from the beginning would fix the camera, and the surprise was that from there it was impossible to connect it again to google home on our Android device. Right now, when trying to add the device to our google Home account, it directly gives error when adding it (error: failed to establish communication with your nest hub max) and makes the device totally useless. I have tried factory resetting the device, uninstalling both Google Home and Google Nest from the Android and reinstalling, forgetting the google account saved WiFi passwords, etc... and nothing works.
See if anyone can help me, as it is an expensive and imported device, and it is to be able to make video calls with an elderly person who needs it.

Other doubts that came up the first day we tried it were:
- Is there any way to increase the sensitivity of the screen? Since the elderly person when pressing "accept" to take the call, does not have enough strength to always take the call.
- Is there any way to display Date, time and temperature in large? I have seen the options and only time and temperature appear in large, or small with pictures of the 3 things.
- Is it possible to configure different volumes for each thing? It is a person with hearing problems, and the calls appear a little low, but then when playing music comes out too loud (for the neighbors).
- And the most important would there be any way that when making a call from a specific phone or specific google account, the call is picked up directly?
Thanks in advance
Ismael

Thank you for your reply.
I finally got it installed, thanks to the help of a google online technician. In case it happens to anyone else, the first problem I had is that I was trying to install and configure the Google Nest Hub Max more than 5 meters away from the wifi network router and it was giving failure. The second failure is that the GNHM was working but the camera, when using it as it appeared as inactive... we fixed it by installing and configuring the home in the google nest app before the google home app.
I've missed to fix the call to pick up the call alone when I call from my phone and that the date, time and temperature appears large, but as far as I have been able to investigate this is not possible (if they appear small if we put a photo background).
Thanks for your answer.

Hey PinLoco,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

I know how challenging it can be when you're having issues setting up your Google Nest Hub Max camera. To confirm, did you remove the Nest Hub Max on your home structure first prior to resetting the device? What type of internet connection does the elderly have?

Please try these steps below:

  1. Remove the device from the old Home.
    1. Open the Google Home app .
    2. Tap the device Settings Unlink or Remove device Unlink or Remove.
  2. Perform a factory reset on Nest Hub Max. To do this, hold the volume up and volume down buttons for 10 seconds.
  3. Set up your Nest Hub Max on a new home structure.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi PinLoco,

Thanks for updating us. Glad to know that it's already working. We'll make sure to pin your post for others to see.

Since this has been resolved, I'll consider this as complete and will lock the thread in 24 hours. Feel free to start a new one if you need assistance with your Google Nest speakers and the community would gladly help.

Best,
