Re: Assistant won't play private playlists

Same issue.

I ask it to play my favourites on Spotify and it picks some random song called "my favourites".

I ask it to play ABC radio and it plays some banal ABC nursery rhyme.

I found it is somewhat related to the LG speaker I have which is stuck on the 1.36 firmware and can't be updated. OK, I get it, this is why Apple and Amazon have closed ecosystems to some extent, and while I'm thinking of closing the loop on the Google ecosystem, I can't seem to find the Nest Audio speakers anywhere... Lots of dots and Homepods but...

Hi Gstroot,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your Google Assistant won’t play your favorites playlist on Spotify, and it shows some random song called “my favorites.” Besides this inconvenience, when you ask it to play ABC radio, it plays some banal ABC nursery rhyme. No worries, I’m more than happy to help you!

To provide you with better assistance, I would appreciate it if you answered the following questions:

Which Nest audio model do you have? (Google Home Mini, Google Home, Google Home Max, Google Home Hub, etc)

What country are you located?

Are your Nest audio devices visible in your Google Home app?

Is your Google Account linked to your speaker or display?

Have you updated your music apps, the Google Home app, and your phone to their latest version?.

Is Spotify linked in the Google Home app?

Do you have the Spotify premium subscription?

Are you having the same issue with other radio stations or only with the ABC radio?

What are the apps that you are using to manage the ABC radio?

Are you using the premium or free subscription for playing ABC?

Have you made some recent changes in your home environment?

What are the troubleshooting steps you've already tried? If so, which steps have you tried already?

Based on the information you have provided, I can recommend you change the way you are calling your Spotify playlist, being more specific with your command, for example:

To request a song you can say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google," then:  "Play [song name]," "Play [song name] by [artist name]," or “Play [song name] on [music service]”

If your want to request an album you can say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google," then: "Play [album name>," "Play [album name] by [artist name]," or "Play [album name> by [artist name] on [music service]”

Please let me know how it goes.  I will be waiting for your kind response to continue helping you.

Best regards,

Virna
