Dear Google,
I am writing to express my strong interest in seeing Gemini, your next-generation AI assistant, integrated with Google Home and Nest Mini devices. This integration has the potential to significantly enhance the capabilities and user experience of these popular smart home devices.
Gemini's ability to hold nuanced conversations and its advanced understanding of context could revolutionize how users interact with Google Home and Nest Mini. Imagine more natural and engaging interactions, along with highly accurate responses and personalized recommendations tailored to each user's needs.
By incorporating Gemini, Google Home and Nest Mini could become even more versatile smart home hubs. New features and functionalities unlocked by Gemini's capabilities would benefit a wide range of users.
I understand that Gemini is currently focused on mobile application use. However, I believe its integration with Google Home and Nest Mini devices would be a valuable step forward for Google Assistant and the future of smart home technology.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I eagerly await the possibility of interacting with Gemini on my Google Home and Nest Mini devices.
Sincerely,
vamshi nagasani

Yes we all did that many times. Now its time for Google dev team to do something should have been done in the first place. Google cant be building an ecosystem based on Google Assistant and then forget about its millions of users and piddle half baked Gemini. We spent heaps of money to setup smart homes!

And the option to say "Gemini" instead of "okay google*"
*hey google

I think the option to say any magic word would be better. I dont like the word Gemini, its nerdy. I prefer being given the choice to set whatever magic word I want. I want to say OK Scarlett

I totally Agree, Google Assistant is useless and Gemini Pro on the hubs would be a game changer

OMG yes please. I'm at my breaking point with my google home speakers. You ask it to do something as simple as turn on/off lights and 50% of the time it tells me "those devices aren't setup". It's dumber then a rock currently. I would happily pay a small monthly fee for it to actually work intelligently. I've thought about switching everything over to Alexa but I worry I'll just run into the same issue.

The problem with your lights doesn’t come from the google home speakers. It must come from compatibility or link problems if you have individual lights connected on wifi.
it works everytime for me to switch on/off, change the color or the luminosity of all my lights.
i use a Philips Hue bridge and Philips hue lights and never have any problem with my Google Home Mini and Lenovo Alarm clock screen with Google Home. It always understand and execute my commands.
i recommand you this kind of configuration with a bridge if you can afford it, it makes every lights Work everytime.

I totally second this!
My old google minis around the house are getting so old that can barely understand a simple song request. I need to upgrade or switch. But if Google integrates Gemini to its devices, I'm staying!

I came here to write basically the same response after using the new Google Gemini here in Japan on my new Google Pixel 8 Pro. My entire house has a Google mini or a hub in each room that controls lights, air-conditioning, etc. But oftentimes it just isn't smart enough to understand a question or command. Regular assistant also seems rather buggy and inconsistent. Sometime it turns itself off in the middle of talking. It is just severely lacking as a smart home controller. Gemini could revolutionize Google's smart home business. If they wait too long, Amazon will beat them to the punch. I'm a Google dedicated user. But with home the way it is now often gets me frustrated when it ignores me, doesn't understand, or just bugs out. Often times I catch myself getting upset and saying I'm going to switch to Amazon smart hubs. I really want Google to improve their system.

This will happen, eventually. However I imagine it will be only available on a new device and not compatible with older models, which in theory is might not be true. I don't fully understand the technical side of Gemini which is why they will probably get away with it. This i would say is something Amazon will do also with their smart speakers. From a business point of view its all about making money so this would be the logical step. What would be good is, if those who pay for Gemini and own google older generation of smart speakers, have access to Gemini. Sadly the latter sounds like the most likely.

Its time Google get their act together and do the proper dev to fully replace Google Assistant with full smart home commands and functionality and stop popping up with switching to Gemini until this basic information is done.

Ran across this thread asking the same questions of when this capability will find its way into Google Assistant Google Home and Google Nest Wifi products.
So I submitted the request for each and every relevant Google Home or Google Nest Wifi product via the feedback form below, as you cannot select multiple products for feedback.
In our home we have over a dozen different Google home devices that range from gen 2 Google Home pucks, Google Nest Wifi hub + extenders, a Google Home display, and a Google Home MAX speaker. The ability to leverage LLM via these devices where the decisioning and logic runs on the cloud seems to be a no-brainer, but surprised that Google has not even hinted at this being a possibility.
It's close to two years after LLMs hit the mainstream, you'd think Google would offer something to its loyal user base considering what's at stake (i.e. losing those Google touchpoints permanently)... our household for one is looking into getting rid of the entire lot and replacing with a system that's truly usable and keeping up with the times. Using LLMs in personal and business really shines a spotlight on how dated and glitchy the Google Home universe has become.

it seems it's all about the money...

I would love to see Gemini available on my JBL Authentic 300! I'm impressed with how well it works with my phone so far, and integrating it with my home would be kind of amazing 😀

you can ask more than 100 questions here if there is no meaningful answer.. when will nest devices get a full value gemini assistant ..? It would be nice to talk to them in Hungarian before I die.

Definitely agree with this. Would be awesome to see Gemini integrate to Home devices for more accurate control and precision.

It’s quite simple for me - if Google doesn’t bring Google Home Mini and similar models over to Gemini, I’m selling the dozen units I have and switching to another company. It’s absolutely insane if they expect people to buy all new devices when it’s just a software upgrade.
