Run a routine from a routine

What custom command can call a Routine. I have Weekend routine that turns on/off lights and HVAC on Fri and Sat based on sunset. Since not away every weekend, I want to say Hey Google Road Trip and this will run the Weekend Routine. I need both starters: 1 Voice starter and one Sunrise/Sunset starter.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for posting to our community.

You can follow these steps on how to create a custom routine to address your concerns:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Routines  and then Add  near the bottom of the screen.
  3. Under “How to start,” tap  Add starter and then choose the trigger you want for your Routine.
    • Voice command: Add the voice commands that you want to use for your Routine.
    • (Optional) Time: Have your Routine activate at a specific time.
    • (Optional) Sunrise/Sunset: Choose whether to have your Routine activate at sunrise or sunset.
    • (Optional) Dismiss an alarm: Automatically start your Routine when you dismiss an alarm on your speaker or display.
  4. Under “This Routine will,” tap  Add action and then choose a routine category and then choose an action and then tap Done.
  5. Tap Save.

Hope this helps.

I don't think you understand Princess.

We want to be able to Create a routine, and then run another routine from within that routine.
For Example I may have a list of things I want google to do.

Routine : "Lounge Routine"
Turn on TV, Turn on Fan, Turn On Lighting

Now I Change the Good morning Routine

Routine : "Good Morning"
Say Goodmorning, Tell me the Weather, Tell me todays Calendar, Start Routine "Lounge Routine"

This is a very simple example, but it would be a great feature.

This is one of many new commands we could use. I look forward to seeing more commands develop.

Hi OzDrDj,

I appreciate the details you shared.

As of the moment, there are limited settings that we can do to customize our routines. It would be extremely helpful for us to improve our products and we encourage you to send us feedback using your Google Home/Nest speakers or your Google Home app.

Lastly, if you want to know more about routines, you can click this link for your reference.

Hello Princess,

Thank you for your response. I believe I have spoken to you before. If you were to forward some information to Google Home Developers I would suggest, a Run command from inside a routine, to run another routine.
And one for the Star Trek fans out there. I found by accident, "Play A spooky Sound", google started playing some scary music and all my smart lights started flashing and changing colours. Hahahaha. Brilliant,
So, Since this is possible, I would like to see a Star Trek themed scene. Call "Google, Red Alert". Have google flas all the lights in the house from Bright Red to Dim Red, and have all the speakers play the classic Star Trek Klaxxon Red alert sound.
A "Google, Cancel Red Alert" to return everything to normal.
This may sound silly, but I can tell you there are Hundreds of Thousands of Trekkies out there who are trying to achieve this themselves with varying results, and would love to see it built in to google.
So, please forward this info to whichever development department is appropriate, and thanks again for your time princess.
