Hey folks,

Thanks for bringing this up.

Can someone confirm when did you first encounter the issue? Also, could you please provide the exact commands you've used. Lastly, kindly check other music provider and see if this is isolated on YouTube Music only.

Looking forward to your responses.

Best,

Princess

Started a few weeks ago,  not sure what day.  "Hey google, play music." I only have YouTube music.  To circumvent the issue I've had to either request a specific song, when then starts a Playlist, or use my phone either with Bluetooth or cast.

Only doing it on YouTube music for me.  Command "hey Google play music"

this began about 2 months ago, where I’ve used commands of “hey google, play music” or “hey google play ***** radio.” Whichever song plays first, is usually played again 2-3 songs later, and then it begins to shuffle the first 5 songs that are played.  Even if i say “hey google, next.” It will then begin to play 2 songs, one after another, until I stop it or unplug it.

the last week there has also been a 2-5 delay in “hey Google…” and the response of it listening.

I’ve got this issue too.  Started a couple months ago maybe. I tell my nest “hey google, shuffle my blah blah blah playlist”, it plays about 5-7 tracks and then starts looping.  If I tap the screen to view the songs in the playlist ,  scroll ahead and select a later song, it seems to fix it . I tried turning off smart gestures and that didn’t fix it

Thank you for the idea.

It stopped looping since I contacted the helpdesk of Youtube, but I'll try to keep that fix in mind if it happens again.

Noticed it the day before yesterday.

The command was <play 60's classic rock>

Answer was <ok, check out this sixties classic rock station from YouTube music>

Then the over and over mayhem began.

No, it doesn't affect other providers.

It also does not happen with youtube music on my phone

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the reply. Just so we’re on the same page, which Nest speakers are we working with? Is it a Nest Hub or Nest Hub (2nd Gen)? Could you confirm if it’s only happening with YouTube Music when asking to play any playlist? What country are you located in?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord from your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, unlink and relink your YouTube Music services from your Google Home app. Please refer to this helpful guide: Link your music services and set your default service.

Keep us posted.

Regards,

Dan

Tried all that mess and it's still the same.  Also it's not on a hub, I don't have one,  it's a nest mini that's about to go into the trash and replaced with another provider.

I called Google & was talked through the reset (several steps). It was good for a few days then the same song repeat happened again. Very frustrating & annoying.

For me it's a Nest Mini in my kitchen and Home minis through the rest of my house.

I have a 1 Gen Hub, the problem started a few weeks ago. I live in Texas, USA. I only have YouTube Music, and the problem doesnt affect my phone (iphone). I usually say "Hey Google, play some Genesis..." It replies " Got it, here is a Genesis playlist..."   for a few songs its fine, but then is starts repeating the songs it already played.

I have already reseted all the devices, Router, HotSpot,  Hub and even my Iphone; problem remains.

Hi, I have the same issue.
Started happening a few weeks ago. I have 5x Nest Mini and 1x Next Max. All devices are doing the same thing.
I’m lucky to get 3x songs before it starts repeating again.

Done all the steps of rebooting and unlinking to no avail. I have a full YT music subscription.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Eo

Don't want to jump the gun, but I have been trying the Google home Hub, with different music requests... and apparently the repeating issue is not happening.... anyone else have this experience...? What changed?.... I will keep trying it, to see if it's a fix or just good luck...

Cheers
Alex

Well... its begining to repeat the songs... so not a fix yet...

Alex

Was just about to say it's still doing the repeat dance on the nest mini and the bohemian song juggle on the Google mind's lol.

Funny thing is it's fine when using the YouTube Music app with my car sterio.

Hello there,

To isolate further, kindly send us the firmware version of your devices. See the steps below.

Check the firmware version of your speaker or display"

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX"

Check the version on your Nest display:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings and then About device. You should find your "Cast firmware version."
    • For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If “Fuchsia Version” is also listed, this means your device runs Fuchsia.

Thanks,

Dan

Device 1.      1.56.356012

Device 2.     1.56.356012

Device 3.      1.56.356012

All the same and all the same problem

Issue:

Verbal request: "Hey Google play music" or "Hey Google play random music".

Result:  Plays one of a few most commonly played songs, then starts repeating songs. Might start with a random song from my history before starting repeats.

Firmware:

  • Home Max  2759994
  • Nest Hub  12.20230611.1.58

Issue started in  the second half of August.  Seems to be getting worse.

On YouTube Premium

Mine is working again.

Steps I took yesterday right before it started working.

Started assistant on my phone manually so the home mini didn't hear.

I said "play [song name #1]" It opened YTMusic and played.

After a few songs I casted that to my home mini. It worked.

I stopped that and said "okay google play [song #1 again]" no casting this time

After it worked for several songs, I stopped it and said "okay google play [song name 2]". It played that song and kept going fine.

I stopped it and said "okay google play some music"

It worked all night and today.

happening to me as well.  No matter  what I ask it to play, it just plays the same few songs on repeat. Whether I  ask it to play a playlist, play some music etc.

Last night it started working correctly and I thought, finally they fixed it.  But today, it's back.

I ask it to play blink-182, and it plays the same 5 song on repeat.  I ask it to 'play some music' and it plays 'want some need some' by poison. I've never played that song before.  Why are we being charged money for this mess?

You'll continue taking our money no doubt for a damaged service that we're paying for... right?

Having this problem no matter which device I use, started a few weeks ago. I've tried casting from my phone to my Google Hub, playing straight from the hub, rebooting the hub, etc. We have several Google Home Minis and the problem is evident in those as well. It seems to work fine when I play through Firefox on my computer, but through either my phone or the Google Hub it's repeating songs. It plays every song twice in a row. So annoying.

Google Hub info:

System Firmware: 12.20230611.1.67

Cast Firmware: 1.70.377722

I have 2 home mini speakers that started repeating songs Oct 2023:

System firmware version: 375114
Cast firmware: 2.57.375114
System firmware version: 375114
Cast firmware: 2.57.375114

I am experiencing this issue. Here is my info:

Fuchsia version: 12.20230611.1.67

software version: 53.110.0.549404370

chrome cast firmware version: 1.70.377722
