I ask Google Home to play a song from a specific artist, beging with the songs... after 3 or 4 the same songs repeat...

I am using my  YouTube Music subscription.

Factory reset didn’t work for me. Switching to Spotify premium did!😊

I will do the same likely

So, this fixed stopped working for me. It's just plain broken now - casting from a device is the only way to use this thing without getting loops.

Having this issue as well and have been experiencing it with growing frequency over the last few weeks.

When I play Youtube Music on my Google home mini by asking it (to play an artist or a song title) it will play 4 songs then it will keep repeating the last 2 songs. But if I ask it to play 80s music I don't have the issue then. My newer Google home mini hasn't run into these issues yet. (Keep in mind I do not have Youtube music premium on both of my Google home minis)

I wanted to chime in and mention I too am experiencing the same issue.  Even when asking Google to skip the song it will skip the song and then after that song plays it goes and play the song I just asked it to skip.

Same issue for me.  Ready to switch to Amazzon.  Due to Sonos lawsuit now can't adjust volume across all speakers,   and now can't have all groups play same song.  Why introduce new features when ones we most need are taken away.  Extremely dissatisfied Google.   And we still can't use custom wake up name.   I am so suck of saying Hey Google.  Amazon here I come!

Same issue here any solution?

I've been having this issue too the past few weeks on my nest hub and it's driving me nuts cause it'll do one new song and then repeat one it played a few songs back and so on. No issues when listening on my PC or using the YT music app on my phone, only on my nest hub.

This device is also having issues with the slideshow randomly stopping, but that's a separate issue.

System firmware version: 12.20230611.1.67

Cast firmware: 1.70.377722

Just got the google nest hub 2nd generation. I was super excited but now I find myself Yelling at it to skip the song because it was just played. I’m so annoyed. I use YouTube music as well…

For those that can could you raise this with your Google one support accounts.

The folks dealing with my case suggested an update and reset should have sorted it. It hasn't

Curious if there is a connection to when ads might play between songs on YT Music. Is anyone affected using a basic YouTube account or are we all subscribed to premium?

I'm premium

I had premium.

I'm premium as well

I have the same issue as everyone else, just 2 songs repeat, despite paying 15 bucks a month.  When you click 'help' in the home app nothing happens...  thanks

Same thing here,  nothing happens other than being asked a billion times for your device type and the firmware number. Then a bunch of bs steps to take that resolve nothing.  Good luck my friend.

It's definitely related to premium users. I just found out the feature to ask for a specic song doesn't exist for non premium users anyway. We also watch a hell of a lot of youtube at our place and I ain't about tonstart dealing with ads, so cancelling the service does come with some downsides.

Having same issue here. Any fix?

Sisi2

My fix was getting rid of YT premium music. No issues ever since.

Today while at work I decided to open my YouTube app and play my play list from the mobile app then connect to my nest …. I did not have any repeats for the first time in weeks!
now obviously I would prefer to command the playback feature but the replay of songs was really starting to annoy me AND my clients (uh oh!)

Same problem at home since august...

Does Google is doing something to solve this new problem ?

It's a shame

Mine seems to be fixed. I noticed when using youtube music on my Tivo, my music mix was called "My Supermix". I played this and had no repeats.

Next time I was using it over my Nest speaker, I said "Hey Google, play my youtube music supermix". I had no repeats.

I did the same thing for the next 2 days and everything was good. Today I said "Hey Google, play some music" which is my normal way. I have been listening for 2-3 hours now and have had no repeats.

Well, here's a new signal - I asked it to play my YouTube music supermix - and it said it's only available with YouTube Music Premium -- but I am fully subscribed and set to Youtube Music Premium - and it went back into looping mode.

Maybe this is an issue with how it's authorized with premium. I know I've had cases where it'll complain I'm playing on too many devices (if I have two running in the house). I've had many instances in which it won't stop playing music until I tell it to play another song then stop, after it sends the warning - or I otherwise have to unplug the device.

So that's my current theory - they've got authorization issues that are gating the proper functioning of the nest devices. They've had them for a long time, but it's just gotten worse.

Also been having this issue since mid August on all my google home devices ... going crazy listening to the same songs.

Same problem here too. It started several months ago on my mini and hub max. I've tried all the fixes mentioned on this thread and it has made no difference. I do not have a premium subscription.

I'm seeing the same thing and it's been happening over and over for a week now. Can we please figure out a solution asap?

Andybrad

Tried it again recently and didn't notice the issue. Maybe it's been fixed? Maybe it's the service guys looking at my account, I'm not too sure?

I fixed mine by:

Resetting my Google home mini and setting it up on a different gmail account / new gmail account.

Same problem here for the last 2 or 3 months…

I have tried everything from resetting my devices to modify the settings in the YT music app with no changes…

I think that I will switch music service if there is no quick fix… I can’t stand songs that I liked for having heard them in loop too much !!!

Still happening for me, most annoying. I keep thinking it will just get fixed at some point, but the messages above don't fill me with confidence - feels like nobody cares.

Same problem here, I use mostly a Google Nest Hub Max.

I have had this same issue via YouTube Premium, on all the google smart speakers in my home. Nest mini's and Nest Audio.

"Hey Google, play music." Same three to four songs on repeat. Also, when I ask to play the previous song it starts the current song over as if it was the first song I listened to.

For those in the know, if I switch to Spotify, am I able to import my playlist from YouTube music? That would be the  only thing keeping me from switching, as my kids have created substantial playlist.

Same issue in my house, using YouTube Music premium and Nest Hub Max, Nest Audio (at least) with at least 3 users in my house.  My 7yo daughter didn't notice it yet on her Nest Audio, but she only listens to music for 10-15 minutes at a time.

This is really bad and has been going on for more than a month.  I can't really use YouTube Music at home anymore, it frequently gets stuck playing just two songs 😞

Try a factory reset. It fixed the problem on mine

whatever song i would ask for- it woukd olay that song, then the next 2 random songs that come up continuously repeat (not including that first song). did this for about 3 weeks or a month. finally today i factory reset all 3 units (google mini, nest hub, and nest audio). Then re-added them to the account. this seemed to do the trick. Youtube Music now plays all songs again as normal.

Done a factory reset and mine is working again now. Thanks for the help

To confirm what another poster said, I was able to correct my repeating issue by factory resetting all devices and re-introducing them one at a time.

Factory reset on the older home/mini can be performed via holding a 'hidden' button found near the power cord, on the rubber foot of the underside of the unit for roughly ten seconds until you hear the final chime after hearing the warning about a factory reset, and on the newer mini by toggling the microphone switch to "off" and by long tapping the top of the speaker also for ten seconds until you hear the final chime.
