Screen fail on new nest hub

Within about an hour of setting up new nest hub 2nd Gen, screen went bad, showing vertical lines across most of the display and dark areas near the corners. The unit was sitting on a table the whole time never bumped or moved. No damage or scratches and shipping, and it worked for that first hour.

Reboot does not solve it. Factory reset does not solve it, and annoyingly after factory reset the screen display is so bad it is very difficult to read the qr code to redo the setup.

Looks like a hardware issue, but is there something software to try just in case before returning it for a working model?

Hi DeMarti,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

I understand how it feels when you're having issues on your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) - we'd love to help. A few questions: is this a first-time setup? When and where did you purchase your device? What country are you located in?

Cheers,

Muddi

This is a first time setup of a new device.
Device was purchased directly from Google store and installed same day it arrived (31 Aug 2022)
I am located in U.S.

Update:
1) Power off for several hours and power on clears the problem... but it comes back after a few hours use.

2) Now there is a thin solid black vertical line near left side of screen which doe not ever go away.

#1 seems like maybe to do with overheating, but device is in an air condition room and never feels hot to the touch.  #2 seems like just a manufacturing quality issue.
