Speaker groups in routines

electricbluez

I have routine that is set to start automatically every morning. The final part of it is to start playing my favourite radio station on all of the speakers in the house. This is achieved by having all the speakers in a group called 'everywhere'.

In the last couple of days the routine triggers, but when it gets to the end Google says "Alright, do you want to play that on everywhere or everywhere?"

I don't think I can select a group as the default audio device for the routine? Is this connected to the recent service degredation or just a new frustration?

Hi, I would do the same and I made a routine for my favourite radio.

Taking a part the problem that my routine do not understand exactly which one of the three variant of radio I want to listen to, I do not know how to let it to play on my speaker group called as your one "everywhere".

Could you please share your settings?

thank you

Hi HelloJacker,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let's check it out. What Nest speakers are you using? Are they all in your speaker group? Also, without the routines, are you able to give a command to play music/radio on your speaker group? How about individually?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops. Restarting your phone might also help.

Check out this guide for more information about routines.

Thanks,

Dan

Hey there,

I wanted to follow up and see if you still need help. Please let me know if you are still having any concerns or questions from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan.

Yep, my speakers are on the same group.

Speakers are a google nest audio, a nest mini and a google nest smart hub 2. I can launch the command to play music on a specific speaker choicing between nest audio, nest mini or smart hub but when I ask for play to the group it doesn't understand:  sometimes uses the speaker nearest to me and sometimes tells me "I can't found 'everywhere' (the speakers group name)".  This happens without using any routine but directly speaking .

I am able to listen to the group by tapping on the icon on the display of the Smart Hub 2....

Thank you

Hi HelloJacker,

Thanks for the reply. How about if we change the speaker group name from "everywhere" to any unique name. Let's also isolate further by creating a routine based on the new name of your speaker group but instead of using radio as its media, try YouTube Music or Spotify if you have it activated.

Looking forward to your responses.

Thanks,

Dan
