Speakers or Hubs won’t connect to Telstra gen 3 Guest 2.4ghz

Hi everyone,

I have the Telstra Gen 3 smart modem, I am using iOS apple iPads/phones to operate.
I have setup a 2.4ghz guest wifi to use the smart home on, (I had a asus modem with guest and it worked fine ) but no matter what I do it won’t connect to the guest 2.4 OR guest 5ghz wifi, it connects and then when I connect the wifi it says something went wrong, check your allow access in settings, I go to google home settings the allow network access is on, it’s also on in the iPhone but it won’t connect.

I have done a factory reset on the nests, I have reset the modem, I have tested the guest wifi on my phone and it works, iPhones and iPads are up to date.

what else can be the issue? 6D7919A8-DA73-4D95-BBE2-A98605B5DE6B.jpeg

Hey Gainey,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand how challenging it is when you can't connect your Google Home and Nest speakers/displays to your guest network. To confirm, is your phone connected to the guest network during setup? Are you able to connect it to your main network?

Below are additional steps that you can try:

  1. Reboot your Google Home/Nest speakers and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.
  2. Turn Wi-Fi on and off on the mobile setup device.
  3. If you have a dual-band router, try setting up your 5.0 GHz band.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi
