Hey
I’ve browsed the forum but haven’t found any recent and/or useful help...
I have two Google Home Minis (1st Gen) that I’ve been using for 4–5 years. Since the beginning, I’ve used a wake-up routine that does the following in order: set the volume / tell me the time / play my Spotify music (Premium account).
Since June 2025, the routine only works partially: Google announces that it will play my music, but the music never starts.
I’ve already tried:
unlinking my Spotify account,
deleting all routines,
linking the account again,
creating a brand-new routine.
The morning after doing this, the music played correctly, but the very next day the problem came back (only the spoken announcement happens).
It looks like the command does reach Spotify, because if I’m listening to music on my iPhone at that moment, it cuts the Spotify stream, but the Mini still doesn’t play the music.
However, if I ask the Mini directly by voice to play my music, it works perfectly and plays my Spotify playlist on the speaker.
I’ve tried this on both of my Minis with different routines: same result, it doesn’t work.
How can I fix this?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Perlimpinpin,
Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that your morning Routine on your Google Home Minis (1st gen) is only partially working. Since June 2025, you've noticed that the routine announces it will play music, but the music never starts, even though a direct voice command works fine. I appreciate all the troubleshooting you've already done. I can imagine how inconvenient that is, and I'm here to help!
To find the best solution, I have some questions for you:
Please keep me posted.
Regards,
Juan
