Swiping left does not work.

As above, swiping left on the nest hub does nothing. Due to this problem, the tutorial could not be completed on either of the two devices I just purchased. I have been through the previous forum posts on this issue and the Google representatives have offered no actual support or assistance and have instead been overly eager to lock the forums preventing new users experiencing this same problem such as myself from sharing that they too are unfortunately plagued by this. Factory resetting does not resolve the issue. Other clever tricks suggested by others do not actually work either. The result is that we are complacent with a device of limited functionality, thinking that this is really all it can do. The representatives are doing a disservice to their product.

We're sorry to hear about the issue you're having with your Nest Hub. Doing the factory reset should do the trick but it seems like it didn't work. Just so we're on the same page, could you tell us how the factory reset was done? And what other troubleshooting steps were given for you to do? Could you specify for us so that we would know what the next appropriate steps to take? We would really appreciate it.
