Sync Devices - Pixel 6 not available

Bitz09
Community Member

When I try to sync my devices, I get the message Pixel 6 is not available.  This even happens when I run the sync on the Pixel.  Home Assistant is running fine.  The Google Home app is installed and working fine.

Any ideas?

I tried the Uninstall/Reinstall trick with Google Home and it didn't make a difference.

???

Hey Bitz09,

To confirm, did you add your iPhone on the Google Home app prior to checking if your devices is synced?

Cheers,

Muddi

I have no idea how to add a phone to the Google Home App.  I assumed it did it automatically when you installed the App.  Using Add Device doesn't find it.

You cannot add a phone to google home. Basically google somehow in the cloud got a definition for one of our old phones and now the assistant is looking for it somehow.. they need to see in their backend.

Hey folks,

Just be sure that any phones you want to connect with your Google Nest speakers are logged in using the same account when you set up the speakers and also connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Yes, same account, same wifi....we have been through this over and over.   When I say Sync Devices, it tells me my "Pixel 6 isn't available, you might want to try setting it up again."

same with me, it says that Pixel 2XL is not available. a device that i had like 4 years ago and sold it. of course i erased everything and removed from my account before selling.

The exact same thing is happening to me, i have no idea how to remove the device and i have literally tried everything in this thread and then some. its infuriating.

I just upgraded my Pixel 6 to a Pixel 7...and I keep getting the same message. The Pixel 6 was factory reset and sent back to the mothership.

Hey everyone,

Could you tell us the current firmware version of your Pixel phone and speakers. To confirm, does the same issue happened when you use the Google Assistant app on your phone?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey Andreasc1,

It would be more helpful if you could provide the exact firmware version of your Pixel phone and speakers.

I'll wait for your response.

Why are we playing "Groundhog Day".  We have provided this information over and over.  The issue is on the Google Backend.   The phone it says is not setup, doesn't exist anymore.

Hey Bitz09,

I understand you already provided the information. We are collating information from other users as well so we can add it and forward it to the team.

Thanks,

Muddi

Same problem here, i have 2 old phones that assistant cannot find. One iPhone and one Pixel 6 Pro

Same problem, Pixel 6a. I have tried every o could think of to fix this. Google home seems to work fine, it's just annoying.

I just started having the same problem and it was after I installed the Nest app and then switched from tracking my location there to letting the Home app track it instead (for Home/Away routines)

This makes sense to me too. I believe the Home app is the problem.

I'm having this same problem too with my Pixel 6 running TQ1A.230105.002 and Google Home app version version 2.63.1.12

I'm having the same problem with my Pixel 6 Pro when I ask any of my Nest devices to "sync my devices" Pixel 6 Pro is running Android 13 build TQ1A.230205.002

I'm having the same issue. My phone is a Pixel 7 pro and even if I use assistant on my phone it says it's not available and I might need to try setting it up again. I get a similar message if I tell my Google nest hub to sync all devices.

Google Home App version: 2.63.1.12

Pixel 7 pro running Android 13

Build number: TQ1A.230205.002

Same. Google assistant/home just keeps getting worse.

Google Home App version: 2.63.1.12

Pixel 7 pro running Android 13

Build number: TQ1A.230205.001.D2

Same issue for me pixel 6 pro. I'm wondering if this is causing another issue for me. I can't see home/away routine options. I'm assuming because my phone is not synced properly maybe?

Same problem started here, rendering voice commands over Google Nests useless. Really, really annoyed.

As a long time Google/ Android fan I'm becoming hugely frustrated with the groundhog day game answers we get.

Same problem for me also.

I had this problem about a year ago, and then it misteriousy stopped happening.   It just started happening again a few weeks ago.

Using a pixel 6 pro

It's the only thing we can do: complain.

No one at Google cares.

Pichai & Kurian made Google the new Microsoft. We need to respond with our money spent.

I have the exact same problem on my Pixel 6. No issues on my old OnePlus phone. This is a Google problem for sure.

I now get the message that my Pixel 6 isn't setup? Wtf?

Did anyone try a factory reset of the Pixel 6 and did that help?

"Pixel 6 Pro isn't available, you might want to try setting it up again."

Recently started receiving this error also, I sent my pixel 6 Pro in for repair a few months ago.. might be apart of the issue.. However I did remove my google account prior to sending and factory wipe the device as per repair instructions.

What I've done so far:

  1. Signed out of all my devices including my current phone, same error.
  2. Hid devices from my play store account (unchecked), same error.
  3. Uninstall, reinstall Google Home app.
  4. Clear "Google" app data on my Pixel 6 Pro.
  5. Sign out & back in my Google account on my Pixel 6 Pro.
  6. Sync devices from my Pixel 6 Pro, oddly same error appears.
  7. Factory reset Google smart speakers.

Why on earth can we not force remove devices from our own accounts if we wish.. so strange.

I'm having this exact problem with my Pixel 7 Pro. Discovered while investigating why some routines don't work on my nest minis. Apparently no solution was ever found. I don't want to jump through a hundred tech support hoops. Falling out of love with Google has been a long, long process, but we're getting close to the end for me.

Please add my tally to the list.  Wasted quite a bit of time trying to figure out why this is happening.  Most happy as was as frustrated that I am not the only one with this issue.

Same thing, Pixel 7

I managed to solve this by updating my pixel 6 pro to the latest firmware, they made changes in the Google home notification pull down toggles.

I went into the notification shade and re-set up the Google home toggle.. after doing this the error message finally disappeared.

And as per usual, crickets from support.
