Technical information about Nest Mini STEREO paring!

Hi!

I need to know the technical information about HOW the Google Nest Mini is paired in STEREO

- I assume that the "master" speaker (LEFT) connects to the "slave" (RIGHT) via Bluetooth. Can you confirm this?

- What format / protocol is used to send DATA from the LEFT Speaker to the RIGHT Speaker?

a) RAW DATA? (LOSSLESS)

b) AUDIO CODEC (Google Nest Mini best CODEC is AAC, so, in this case the AUDIO for the RIGHT channel is being REENCONDED and LOSSY!)

Thanks.

Hello marcolopes,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

For an immersive music and media experience, you can connect 2 speakers to set up stereo sound. Stereo sound pairing is available on Google Home, Google Nest Mini (2nd gen), Google Home Mini (1st gen), Google Home Max, and Google Nest Audio. Both devices need to be the same model (Example: 2 Nest Mini speakers or 2 Nest Audio speakers) and located in the same room.

Here are the steps to successfully pair your device:

Step 1. Place speakers in the best position in your room

For the best sound quality, place the 2 speakers:

  • On top of a solid, level surface and away from the edge of the surface.
  • At the same height as each other.

Step 2. Set up both Google Nest Mini speakers

Set up both Google Nest Mini speakers in the Google Home app. Once they're set up, they should appear in the app as separate devices.

Step 3. Pair the speakers

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Google Nest or Home speaker.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Tap Devices .
  4. Touch and hold one of the speakers you want to pair.
  5. Tap Settings Audio Stereo pair Next.
  6. Select 2 devices you'd like to pair Next.
  7. The lights on one of the speakers should start to flash white. Tap Left or Right to match the location of the speaker that blinks Next.
  8. Under "Where is your pair?" choose a room for the stereo pair tap Next.
  9. Create a name for your stereo pair tap Next Done.

To change settings and control your stereo pair, open the Google Home app tap Devices your stereo pair's tile.

Step 4. Control the stereo pair

Media controls

All media controls (play, pause, next, previous, and volume control) control the stereo pair, not individual speakers.

Settings

Assistant settings, device settings, and sound settings apply to the stereo pair and can't be changed on individual speakers.

Google Assistant

Important: When 2 speakers are paired, your Assistant functions and responds on the left speaker.

Add your stereo pair to a speaker group

You can add a stereo pair to a speaker group. The stereo pair acts as a single device within that group.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess

Hello there,

Thanks for clarifying. I really wish we could provide more technical info about this, however, the only information that we do have are the audio specs of our speakers. To know more about it, you can click this link.

Thanks for the reply, but this answers NOTHING about my question!

I just wanted to know HOW the AUDIO DATA is processed when the Google Nest are PAIRED in STEREO!

Since they both stay connected to WiFi, can i assume that BOTH of them receive the RAW AUDIO DATA and, instead of playing BOTH audio channels, each one plays only one?

The firmware for the Google Nest Mini was updated recently, but only the RIGHT channel device of my STEREO pair was updated!!! WHAT are the implications and why aren't all devices in a STEREO PAIR updated at the same time??

NOTE: Removing the STEREO link and RESETTING the device did NOTHING! Still on the previous firmware! Shouldn't the device be updated to the latest firmware after a reset and configuration???

Anyone? Is it possible to "force" the firmware update or must i have a LEFT and RIGHT STEREO PAIR with different firmware??
