This Nest Hub Max is connected to another account or home

Hi, 

I somehow “lost” my Google hub max from my app. 
im trying to reconnect it in Google home but I keep coming up with the same error: 

“This Nest Hub Max is
connected to another account
or home”

I have tried multiple resets on the device and uninstalled / reinstalled the app. 

I need to find a way to “disconnect” the hub from the other “device” but I don’t know what the other device or login could be. I have owned this from new so it’s not been purchased second hand.

This is very frustrating!

Do you have just one Google Nest "home"? Are you sure your Nest Hub Max didn't get accidentally moved to another "room" in your "home"?

The message is supposed to mean that your Nest Hub Max is connected either to another Google Nest account or to another "home" belonging to your account.
