Unable to make calls to home devices soon?

I have several of these devices in my home that we use to make calls from room to room… when trying to call today I got a message saying that we won’t be able to make calls to home devices soon (it did say a date but can’t remember) and that we’d have to use “Broadcast” command…

That is not why I spent hundreds of euros on devices for each room!! What’s going on?

I'm wondering exactly the same. This is basically the reason why we bought the nest speakers, so the kids could call each other between rooms. Is this really going to stop working? If so why? And will there be an alternative? I can't find any other information about this on the web.
