I have researched and found very similar posts, all with no resolutions, such as this one here,
https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Unable-to-play-from-Netflix-via-Nest-Mi...
My issue is with the Nest Hub Max and Nest Mini. When I attempt to play something on Netflix, I am met with the error message, "Sorry I can't play Netflix on Android TV yet, try using your Android TV remote instead."
I am able to use a Chromecast with success. However, when I use the Chromecast, the application does not play via the TV. So I can’t then use the TV remote to navigate the menu of the application.
Strangely, when I ask my Sonos Arc, with Google Asisstant, to play something on Netflix, on a different TV. This works (without the need for a Chromecast) and also uses the built-in TV application from my Sony A80L Smart TV.
I have noticed that when I configure the settings of my devices in Google Home, that the two TV’s, despite both being Sony Bravia Google TVs, that the TV with which I am experiencing issues is described as “Android TV” whereas the TV with which there are no issues is described as “Google TV device”. I am unsure of whether this is relevant but I have included a screenshot of this.
Firstly, how can I configure my Nest Hub Max to follow voice commands and play video applications such as Netflix without a Chromecast?
Secondly, how can I ensure that the Nest Hub Max uses the native TV applications and doesn’t instead cast to my TV while playing a video application itself.
Lastly, why has this issue not been previously solved? I have searched this forum as well as others to no avail. With a top answer from another thread being “Google has shown no intention of resolving this issue”. Very disappointing considering the amount of time and money that people spend on your devices to set up a “smart” home.
